Grocery Cart Chauffeur

--by jerryw, posted Jan 22, 2013

Today, at the grocery store, I passed a very pregnant young lady. She was slowly pushing a shopping cart into the store.

She looked miserable and in pain as she walked. It appeared as if she was going to have her baby at any moment. Obviously, there was not much I could do to help, except empathize in understanding how my wife felt during her pregnancies.

As I was leaving the store with my groceries, I saw her again. But this time, she was riding on one of those motorized sitting grocery carts. She was also leaving the store, and going all the way to her car, which was pretty far out into the parking lot.

I stopped at my car and watched her ride all the way to her car to load it with the few groceries she had. I sat there and thought: She is going to ride that all the way back to the store and then walk painfully all the way back to her car.

As soon as she was done loading her car, and she began riding back to the store, I ran over to her. At first a bit startled, she softed after I offered to take the cart back for her, so she wouldn't have to do it herself.

She was very thankful, as was I. It brought me a lot of joy to have had the opportunity to help her out.

May God bless you.
