Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Bluebell's Blessings

--by heartwarmer, posted Feb 8, 2013

Our local hospital has a small chapel where many people go to pray for loved ones who are ill or undergoing treatment. During my own bout with breast cancer I took solace there. I don't think of myself as a religious person as much as a spiritual one, but there is a wonderful and comforting energy in that chapel.

I was grateful to have a place to contemplate what my diagnosis could mean in my life and meditate on the best way to approach it. In the end I had the best possible outcome!

Last summer we went on vacation and I picked up a few small rocks that had been made smooth by the water. I wasn't sure what I would do with them, but I brought them home anyway. Again I felt comforted by them. They have been sitting on a shelf ever since.

When I joined this group a couple of months ago Bluebell was the first to welcome me and she is my inspiration for this idea. I have noted that her signature line is, "Love and light and endless blessings," and I think that is the best wish anyone can give.

So today I painted the rocks with butterflies and flowers and the words "Endless Blessings". I am going to take them to the chapel at the hospital and leave them on the benches in the hopes that whoever finds them will have a little extra comfort for themselves and their loved ones.

In deep gratitude to Bluebell and all of you for your inspiration. I am having so much fun thinking up new ways to promote love and kindness in this world!
