Stories of Kindness from Around the World

A Different Kind of Pep Rally

--by kalesiqueen, posted Jun 1, 2013
A group of us decided to start a Kindness Pep Rally, where we hold signs with messages like, "Honk if you love someone," "You Are Awesome," "Kindness is Good for the Heart," and "Dont Give Up, Ok?"

We are well into the third week of it, and still going strong!

Our "Pep Squad" began two weeks ago with two friends, and today something amazing happened!

An hour into our "Pep Rally," a total stranger stopped by to chat. During the conversation, the stranger revealed that her name was Amanda and that she had just moved to the area. She said that she was touched by what we were trying to accomplish.

"This may sound strange, but I believe that meeting you and seeing the amazing thing that you both are doing is a sign that I belong here in this city. I want to become part of this."

We shared that our next event would be holding signs that read, "FREE HUGS". She seemed really excited by it and shared that, for awhile now, she had been wanting to join a group that gave out free hugs! She just had not been able to find one.

"Well, we're your people!" I replied, as goosebumps of excitement passed through me. Today, I realized that this exchange of kindness among strangers is exactly why we do what we do. And this encounter with Amanda inspires and motivates us to continue our journey with Random Acts of Kindness!

Thank you, Amanda, and everyone else who takes time to connect and share with strangers. You make our day very, very special!

A group that i am ahve been interested in for a while called the one people say that the way we will co create a new reality for ourselves is to ask ourselves who we be and then do who we be. Your do-ing is illuminating who you be - a kind loving caring soul. Thank you for existing. Our world is a better place with you in it.
