Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Kindness During Half Term

--by Bluebell, posted Dec 16, 2013
This last week we had half term holidays and my niece stayed with us for the week because my nephew ( her brother) was going to have a delicate spine surgery and it was easy for the parents to concentrate on looking after him.

My daughter, my neice, and I went out for some last minute shopping and while I was on the line waiting to  pay the girls asked if they could wait for me at the door.

Some minutes later they return to ask if they could give the sweets  they had just bought to a man in the street, so there they go and give their sweets away, another 2 minutes and they return to ask me if there was anything else they could give the man, I told them that I only had the 3 ginger bread men they had bought for dessert, so they took the biscuits to the man and came back with a huge smile on their faces.
When we got out of the shop I realized that the "man" was a young man in his 20's that looked like he was going to spend the night there ( he had a sleeping  bag with him) we made eye contact and he said thank you to me and the girls.

On the way to the car my daughter wanted to buy a drink to the  young man, but I had no change, so I decided to make a detour, went to the cash machine took some cash and gave it to the girls to give him, so he could buy a sandwich and a drink if need be, the girls were over excited there they went  back to the young man ( for the 3rd time now lol)  to give him the cash.

They returned to me with a huge smile on their faces.

To me the bonus was that it was probably my niece's first random act of kindness, and that was AWESOME.

When it was time to return my niece home, my daughter  gave her books and a good amount of clothes that were getting small, leaving her wardrobe almost empty lol, but that is fine because our rule here at home is that no one leaves our house empty handed :-)
