Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Spread Love Everywhere You Go

Dear friends, I hope that all is well. One of the things I know is that it is human nature to want things. We all want more money, better homes, better cars, and better relationships and so on. So what is the secret to getting all that we want? I have been looking for that answer for a while and if you have it I pray you will share. Here is what I would like to share, I started tithing last year and I made the minimum amount based on my income.

This past Sunday as I reflected in all that is going well in my life I realized that I was not giving back at the rate to which I am being given. This made me think of life in general and how we want so much from life but we are willing to give so little. We often agonize about having to be on the giving end and all of us want to be on the receiving end. This is true in terms of finances, careers, achievements and relationships. We are always so adamant on our expectations but so lax in our giving. But what if we changed our habits? What if we gave more in our relationships and expected less, what if we focused on our impact to the world and others and less on our needs? How better off would we be if we lived in a world where the needs of others were superior to our needs? Knowing that what we give in good faith always comes back to us tenfold wouldn’t it make more sense to give more so that we may get more? I think it would be.

So this lent season I take the pledge to give more and take less, to ask less of the things I want but to ask others what I can do for them. I vow to put the needs of others before mine and to give to others only that which I want for myself. As you read this post I pray that you too will think about what you are giving to the world and those in it. I pray that you will need less and always have more to give."
