A trip to the grocery store

--by sbaber, posted Mar 6, 2007

I was driving to the grocery store with my sister and her baby boy.  We had a long list of food to buy and knew that her son's patience was only going to last a short while.

We were in the middle of a fun conversation when I noticed that the car in front of us was not moving and the stoplight had turned green.  At first, I was somewhat agitated because we had been waiting for about 10 seconds and the car was not moving forward.   When it was safe, I proceded to pull into the other lane and pass the car in front of us that had not moved.  As I glanced over at the car, I saw a lady who was practically in tears she was so frustrated.  She was driving a newer SUV and it was obvious that she was embarrased and needed some help.

I quickly pulled over to the side of the road and told my sister that it would only be a minute.  I ran over to the lady's car and told her to put it in neutral.  I got behind the car and started pushing it about 30 yards out of the traffic and to a place where she could get it towed.  She was very appreciative of my efforts.  Needless to say, I felt really good after helping her out.

Well done I can just imagine a lady on her own would of appreciated a helping hand in that situation.

You are a knight of the road.

When we react with annoyance and frustration we fail to see that the other person is not doing it to be annoying to others but there is a genuine reason why they act the way they do. We are then in a position to help them.
