Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Smiles Are Contagious

--by Aurelia, posted Jun 27, 2007

Today I was at a local college taking enrichment courses all day long...9:30am-10pm.  There were many familar faces there but I wasn't hanging with anyone in particular when it came time to eat lunch in the cafeteria.

I got my soup and walked around looking for a place to sit and eat. I noticed one table had only 1 person and there were 4 chairs. I walked up to the table and SMILED really big and asked if she minded if I sat and ate with her. She smiled back and said, "Please Join me".  I was so relieved to be welcomed like that.

Before I knew it we were chatting and exchanging ideas for the classes that we teach.

I highly recommend being friendly and smiling if you are in the position I was in. I made a friend and it felt good. Smile, it's contagious.

But what you did was very nice and also you did what is the best thing to do at that time. I would do the same if I was there. Thank You For Being Kind. Keep It Up...!!!

I did and you know 2 of them are still my closest friends...they told me later I looked so lost and alone they just knew I was a new hire.
Glad you met a new friend too...definitely agree to be friendly, open and smiling as much as possible.
Smiles & Blessings, Brighteyes ;)

A friendly smile can make such different in a strange place, theres a quote that goes"A stanger is a friend we have yet to meet" think that is good philosophy.

A smile is better than any rejuvenating cream it can make you look years younger in an instance.
love and hugs.
