Giggles For Breakfast :-)

--by philster, posted Aug 7, 2007

I had a job that started at 5 a.m.and one morning left early to get gas.  As I was walking in to pre-pay, I noticed this eldery gentleman, dressed kind of scrufffy and sitting next to a bike.  My first thought was he was homeless and I watched him while pumping gas -- he seemed just to watch everyone coming in and out of the mini-store.

I filled up and went back inside to get my change and he watched me enter and was on my mind in the store.  I looked around for something that would be appropriate to give him to eat at 4:30 in the morning.  They only had cooked hot dogs, so I bought 2, put some toppings on them and went to him outside and said, "Good Morning" and started to hand him the hot dogs.

He looked at me kinda puzzled and said "What are those for?" and I responded I thought you might be hungry.  He said, "NO, I am just sitting here waiting for the morning paper to be delivered so I can go to work!"

It was a blessing it was dark.  I  turned the beet run, hurried to my car, drove off and ended having 2 hot dogs for breakfast.

That was 12 years ago and to this day still gives me the giggles.

For example, you are climbing the stairs and your reach your floor and if there is a door, you hold it for someone little behind you, and you wait for the person. But sometimes the person behind you is going further up the stairs and you feel like the above "two hot dogs and an old man" story.

Kindness is never wasted....thanks for sharing story..I was chuckling too.
