Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Cooking, With Love

--by guin, posted Oct 3, 2007

My cousins wife is expecting a baby and she has been feeling very tired and sick. My cousin had returned from a long trip abroad and was feeling jet lagged and tired too.

I went over to visit them and spent the evening making a large, fresh, wholesome meal for them from scratch (I just hate using precooked food).

They were really happy at the end of the day to eat the healthy food and we all sat outside near the garden and watched the rain fall and ate hot food.

I have been through a very rough patch lately, and doing something like this physically for someone other than myself really lifted my spirits.

I am praying that your difficult times are coming to end. Don't forget your mom needs you around too...so put a BIG SMILE on that handsome face of yours and go give her a big hug and tell her how much you love her. That should help lift the spirits for both of you. :) ~Aurelia

What a wonderful RAOK....for BOTH them and you.

I am Italian and LOVE to cook...I can be creative and make wholesome food for them to it.

One of my ex-roommates is Italian too...her Mom cooks without recipes but to taste, touch and with her gut...her food is so great...I also tell her so...

She says its because of her secret ingredient...I asked what that was.. She said with a huge smile, "Its LOVE! I fill my heart with LOVE and add it to every meal or dessert I cook or bake. It's my way of sharing my love with family and friends.

I never forgot this and one day when I was visiting her....I inserted a scrap of paper with the word "love" written on it into her flour cannister where she was sure to find it soon. I knew she knew it was from me and that I had taken her secret into my heart. I now cook with love too.

Smiling Eyes ;)
