Front Porch Surprise!

--by brighteyes, posted Oct 6, 2007

Well, it was the weekend and I love to sleep in....I woke up late (knowing I need not rise early for work) with the sun streaming thru the blinds and my cats like bookends, each claiming one side of me to cuddle against.

I stretched and breathed in the wonderful smell of coffee wafting up from the kitchen....its aroma coaxing me downstairs for  some java and breakfast.

The house was quiet except for the bird song which could be heard thru the sliding glass doors....such a wonderful sound to hear first thing of every day! I never get tired of listening to their sweet music, much better that the radio or CD.

I searched for my hubby ...he was not in the garage  nor the backyard either so peeked out front where I usually  find him chatting with our neighbor.

To my great surprise, there was a brand new oak glider and 2 large terra cotta planters brimming with a colorful selection of flowers on either side of the front stoop and on the exterior windowsills!

"Oh, oh,  oh my gosh woooooowww!" I screamed so excited by my husband's front porch surprise for me!!   I was jumping up and down and he and our neighbor were just chuckling.

He later told me he got up early, went to the store for the glider and the nursery for flowers, pots and soil and came back to assemble the glider and plant the flowers before I woke up.

Everytime I sit on the porch or drive by the flowers I am reminded of his thoughtfulness and this simple act of kindness. It has me beaming...yep, every  single time!

I enjoy this samll pleasure myself, because my husband has become friendly with the neighbors, I continue to work, not a bad lot in life, if you enjoy what you do. And I do, hope you do to.
