Twelve Dollars for a Check

--by omtaratutare, posted Oct 13, 2007

Today, I was in line for the parking garage at the convention center. The one line was a not moving, so I moved my car over one lane. Then, a girl pops out of the car and walks to the car behind her and says, "Can you give me $12 for parking and I will write you a check? They only take cash; otherwise, I will need you to back up so I can get out."  They didn't help her.

They were a little confused at first, they thought she worked for the garage. After a few attempts. She walked defeated to her car. I had just paid and yelled, "Do you need money?"  She said, "yes, I will write you a check."  I said, "here is a $20 just bring back the change and pay it forward. I do not want a check"

I pulled to the side and waited for her to drive through. Then I scrounged in my purse for a smile card. She ran over with a check and said,  "Thank you so much. Here."  Quickly I pushed the check back into her hand and then handed her the smile card. "Just pay it forward and have a great day."  She said, " I love you, thank you so much."

As she ran off, I yelled " I love you too."  I waved and drove off.  It felt good to really help someone save some time and then for her to give me love in return..I felt very warm inside.

The funny part is after I finished up at the convention center,  I was going to meet the family at the beach. I had to pay for parking... cash only. I had only $3.00 and checks left. The guy said you can pull over there and see if your husband can bring you money. He let me wait inside the park  as the line of cars piled up. I was laughing because here I was in the same quandary. Unfortunately I did not have any angels listening and my hubby could not rescue me. All lots were full and people lined up and waiting for spots..crazy...so..I took it as my sign that I need to go home.

I felt so happy that I had helped the girl early in the day and happily drove home:-)
