Stories of Kindness from Around the World

A Terrible Ex In Need

--by sydney14207, posted Dec 12, 2007
So, I have a boyfriend of two years. We live together and love each other. We try to help people as much as we can, and he is a really good guy. Sometimes too nice, because often, his kindness is only repaid with bad things from those he tried to help.

A few days ago my ex boyfriend showed up. A little background on him: I am the only person in the world who sees an ounce of good in him!  And even I probably shouldn't. But what can I say, first love etc. etc.

So he shows up at my house. His girlfriend just dumped him and he's sad. On top of being dumped, his parents kick him out. I offer to let him stay the night in our spare room (after asking my boyfriend if he minds of course) and X did.

I go to work the next day leaving the X and my boyfriend in the same house together, without me as a buffer. Around 2PM, I get a phone call from my boyfriend, telling me that he has offered X a place to stay until he gets on his feet.

I couldn't believe it!  Despite the history I have with my ex (and believe me, its a long bumpy ride) he still has enough trust, and a big enough heart not to let him stay on the street or in his car.

That certainly does take a lot of trust and willingness to extend such an offer without resentment and concern! Thank you for sharing this -- you are very lucky to have each other! You both sound just wonderful!

tell your current i said he was really nice in offering your ex the house.
JuneBug wrote: I believe your current has a big heart, but a word of caution...You have to ask yourself why all these things are happening to your ex. Most of our problems we bring on ourselves..I hope things work out and your ex can get back on his feet again..just be wise about it. I've been there. There are users and there are givers. It's the givers who get taken advantage of...Good luck! :}

I feel like I am setting a big example, because years ago we were both in the same bad place, and I've been trying very hard to make something of myself, and I think he's learning a little bit :-)
