A Paper Clip Angel

--by MarvelousMoth, posted Dec 15, 2007

My daughter is in her final year of high school. With her friends, she faces many exams and the finishing touches to enormous assignments.

Seeing a lot of them feeling the stress, I decided to 'lighten' their load, a little. I made each of them a 'study buddy': a paper clip angel with a message.

Interestingly, I had many tentatively approach me, awkwardly 'enquiring' how they might acquire one. I was amused when two 18 year old boys, came to me saying, "Miss they have pretties," pointing towards some of the students, lined up to enter their exams.

As a teacher/mother, I am fortunate enough to have a good rapport with these beautiful young people, and was heartened when, at the end of an exam, some of the students excitedly told me that they were allowed to keep their 'angels' on their desk in the exam. I wish them well for the future.

Great Idea.. Thanks

We used to do something similar in high school -- our SADD chapter would make "stress bags" for all the students with stress balls, candies, and those eye masks with gel in them. It was always appreciated to know that someone else thought of and supported us in our stressful times! The Paperclip Angels sound like a great extension of the same concept!! Thank you for sharing this!
Brighteyes wrote: You are so creative and caring...to lighten their stress with a gesture of kindness....ALSO I ADORE ALL THINGS ANGELS....it was also cool that you added an inspiration....a few years ago, I sent silver angels with inscribed messages to ones I wanted to uplift or inspire...some were ornaments, so pins and one a pendant....your idea is so simple, easy and we all have paper clips so may borrow it and share with others too....THANK YOU!!!
