Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Never Underestimate The Power Of Kindness

--by happygnome1, posted Jan 8, 2008

As I picked-up my daughter from school, we saw a small puppy who had fallen in a long ditch in the middle of the street. We knocked on some doors and people in the area said they had heard a dog crying for the past 4 days. We bought some chicken and tossed it to him, the doggy ate it voraciously.

There were some rough and serious men digging the street across to replace some water tubes. We didn’t think they would stop their work to help but we told them that we would pay them something if they helped. They actually spent about an hour and a half running back and forth the long 7 block ditch trying to catch it, until the doggy got tired and they were able to catch it. It was so afraid that it bit one of them.

A man watching from outside said to me “Boy lady this IS going to cost you!!”. But, believe it or not, even though they had spent their working time chasing after the pup, none of them wanted to accept any money, they were happy they were able to get it out, so we bought them some refreshments as thanks and took the puppy home. We have now found him a good and loving home (because we already have a zoo at home) and we now also have new friends, the next day the workers waved at us and asked after the puppy. Never underestimate the power of kindness.
