Providing Clean Water in Kenya

--by sawan, posted Mar 3, 2008
Last year, my mother passed away and in her name my brother, father, and I decided to collect funds from different people in order to build a borehole and pump in Machakos, a small town in Kenya.

This September, we collected enough funds and the three of us went out to Machakos to start our project.

When we arrived, we received such an amazing response and a welcome from the locals.  They were truly happy to receive this kind of gift.

Seeing the quality of water the locals had to drink brought tears to our eyes.  They hardly had any water around the area, especially due to droughts, and the water that they did have was infected by disease.

The water which came through the borehole was so clean and truly much sweeter than the water which we get in our taps at home.

It was a truly wonderful sight to see and even more of a wonderful feeling to be able to give this kind of gift to people.

We've also put together a little video:

Condolences for the loss of your Mom but you made her proud, remembering her by assisting others with better drinking water.

It's a tradition in my family to honor and remember our loved ones through acts of charity, volunteerism and donations to their favorite causes and hobbies....

It makes us feel good to help others in our loved ones name and they live on in our memories, love and good deeds for others!

Peace to you and yours, Brighteyes ;)
