Stories of Kindness from Around the World

In Memory of My Brother Christopher

--by athens, posted May 24, 2008

I lost my brother last April. For a few months, I felt that maybe life was not worth living anymore. But then a voice inside of me spoke up.

An idea came to me. My brother was such a giving and loving soul. In honor of his memory I decided each day to do a random act of kindness. Whether it was just a small note to a friend or a smile to a stranger. I know he is lookiing down with an approving smile. This site is so wonderful and creative. It gives and asks nothing in return.

As I write this I am getting ready to make flight arrangements to visit with my sister and her family. Her husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. And he doesn't have very long. I ask that you keep her in your prayers. It has been a rough year for my family. But God must feel we are strong. Between my brothers death and brother in laws sickness plus my lack of being able to conceive. I feel that 2008 can only be a much better year for us. Miracles will happen in 2008. I honestly feel this. Sometimes I guess the only thing left to do is pray and give it to God.
