Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Anonymous and Unknown Favours for Neighbours

--by wayfarer, posted Jun 8, 2008

We had a bit of a storm last night and a fair bit of damage has been done around the country. Out early this morning I stopped at a couple of neighbours gardens and picked up their plant pots, garden furniture etc, putting them back in place before owners even knew they were OUT of place.

I've done anonymous RAOKs before, but these were acts of kindness for people who would never even know what had been done. And, you know what - they still felt good!

Thanks for sharing that.
mermangel wrote: Your story reminds me of the childrens book friends "Frog and Toad" who each sneak to the other's home (by a different route)to perform the anonymous act of raking his friend's leaves. Work completed, feeling pleased to think of the surprise and delight his friend will experience at finding a clean yard, each heads home. Meanwhile a windy gust undoes their hard work before each one arrives at his own home to snuggle into bed after a hard day's toil, smiling to himself, planning to do his own yard work the next day:) Some of the best acts are those that no one knows about only the wind and the weather, I kind of like that idea!
