Stories of Kindness from Around the World

A Cold Walk Made Warm

--by Aurelia, posted Jul 1, 2008
I witnessed how it is our attitudes that make a big difference in our everyday lives.
My good friend doesn't have any pets. I happened to notice her outside in the below-30-degree weather walking a dog early in the morning yesterday. I pitied her, out there walking a dog that's not hers in such freezing weather. I thought she was probably saying to herself, "Yeah, this is why I don't have any pets!" I was wrong.
Later that day I saw her and said, "I saw you out there walking a dog. Are you sorry you offered to dog sit?" She said that she was enjoying getting out there and walking the Boxer and that she's getting good exercise because of him. She also said she talked to her brother, the dog's owner, who is vacationing in Orlando, Florida and he said his children were enjoying Disney World and the resorts. His four-year-old son had had breakfast with Mickey Mouse and said it was the best day of his life. My friend said, "If I could help my brother and his family have such a wonderful time relaxing for a week, because they know their pet is being loved and cared for, what more can I ask for?" She added, "It's worth it to me to make the sacrifice so they could go have fun."
What an inspiration she is to me.

As you can imagine, not many people willing to be responsible for that many loved ones (nor many we would ask that much of!). Except we have an angel friend, with two dogs of her own, so delighted at us finally deciding to take a break she has jumped into the breach. As much as I understand your friend's kindness, I also understand just how much it meant to her brother and his family...and their four-legged companion! Thank you for deepening the understanding of both!

ATTITUDE, and a positive one at that makes a huge difference in your life and those you interact with.

In a quote I have, it states that Rev Charles Swindoll is convinced that Life is 10% of happens to him and 90% how he reacts to it..so for him, HE IS AND WE ARE IN CHARGE OF OUR ATTITUDE.

LET'S ALL TAKE CHARGE OF OUR ATTITUDE...EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN OUR LIFE, HAPPENS FOR A REASON EVEN IF WE DO NOT HAVE THE "BIG" PICTURE LIKE GOD....WITH FAITH, A POSITIVE ATTITUDE, KINDNESS AND A ZEST FO LIFE...WHAT A WONDERFUL ADVENTURE LIFE IS AND WILL BE!

ruru wrote: HHmm.....want to walk my dogs? They really love the company when we go away, too. My mom usually is the sitter. It really improves my dogs' attitude. They eat more and get more exercise, because mom makes sure they go out. Too bad dogs can't give out smile cards....

Because, "it is a dogs' life and ain't it grand" My babies can always make me smile(except when they need doggy potty at 2am).
KEEP IT SMILING :^)
