Shoveling Snow at the Airport

--by mountainchi, posted Jul 14, 2008
For some reason I love to shovel snow. I believe it stems from growing up on a farm where we didn't get an opportunity to shovel our driveway in the conventional way - a shovel and sweat. My dad just got out the tractor with the huge plow on it and away he went. I also like shoveling snow because I like being active, especially outdoors. Doing this for others only doubles my pleasure. So yesterday after a good storm that brought 5 to 7 inches of snow, I found myself at the airport unburying my car. I wasn't dressed for the task but the sun was shining, the sky was blue and I became inspired to bring some unexpected sunshine and relief into the life of another fellow traveler. So I proceeded to clean off the car next to me, even lifting the windshielf wipers and getting all the snow out underneath. I think I did a more thorough job in their car than on mine! I did not have any smile cards and thought of trying to write "pay it forward" on their car in some fashion but came to the conclusion they would figure it out on their own. I recently saw a commerical where a guy had cleaned off his car only to discover than it wasn't his. The comment afterward was in relation to things not going right and I thought, "oh, they really missed the point on that one. This simple act kept a smile on my face throughout the day and I can't wait to do it again!

That is a great RAOK and boy, let me tell you, if it was me, and that was my car, I would be overjoyed that someone kind had cleared the snow for me....especially since traveling makes me very tired.

YOu've got me smiling too imagining the look of surprise and pleasure on that car owner!!!
