Donating More Knitting

I joined the knit and natter group that meets in the communal lounge of our block of flats. Rachel who is employed to provide activities for the residents was unavailable yesterday. Undaunted, I took a project that is near completion and chatted to the other residents who joined me.

About half way through, Julie the Health Care Manager popped in. She asked if I was enjoying knitting and whether I'd made some of the knitted objects which were part of a fund raiser. I said I was enjoying knitting but I hadn't made the knitted objects she mentioned. I told her I was in the process of finishing a soft toy which I began before I moved in. 'That's a shame, it would have been good to put it in the fund raiser.' I looked in my bag and found a knitted bag, I made a while ago and hadn't donated anywhere. I offered her that and she was very pleased.

Comfort In Knit Cat

A couple of weeks ago, a friend bought me 'Your Crochet and Knitting' magazine and there was a knitting pattern for Gerri the Ginger Cat and I began knitting it. I finished it yesterday and asked my sister if she would like the soft toy. Her beloved cat of 17 years died a few months ago and she still misses him. She would love Gerri so I'm going to send her to her. She has her own backpack too. See the picture of front and back.

Donation

I was able to do a simple kindness yesterday. I was out in Ilkley and it was very windy, and I headed towards one of the churches. They have several restrooms which are open to the public for a small donation. I used them when I arrived and then went into the church because it is quiet. After I'd eaten my lunch, I used the restrooms again. I didn't have many coins so I put the £5 note so it would help others to use it who couldn't afford to make a donation.

Drawings

I've been very busy the last couple of weeks but it's a good busyness as it's part of being in a new community. I finished the teddy yesterday and the drawing is a work in process. I'm not sure where both of them will go; however, I am planning to share a meditation with a member of my new church community so we can make it available for others.
