My Neighbor's Encounter With Death

My neighbor was diagnosed with Leukemia.  He was told that he didn't have many days to live. While most would get depressed, he was as happy as ever!  I was confused and decided to ask him why. He was gardening when I finally asked the question.  With a smile, he responded, "Why be angry at the world when we are blessed with the knowledge of our death?  Why not embrace it give back something to our society?" The next day, I read in the newspaper that he was among the many who volunteered to help out the poverty stricken people in South Africa. Lessons from an Orphan

Last year our school's interactive club went to the orphanage  to donate clothes, food and money to the orphans there. I was one of the volunteers to go. It was so touching!! All the orphans there came out to thank us.

There was one orphan who's name was mal who had been neglected by her parents. She showed me how fortunate I was. She was a jovial child who love to smile. Mal offered me a packet of twisties to me the ones give to them by our students.

I realised that if an orphan can give something to me, why can't someone who has everything  provided for them give out a little bit?

Community Kindness Blossoms for a Gardener

Last year, a gardener at school lost his family home in a fire. He is a faithful worker to the school and has been serving it for as long as I can remember.  Because the school compound contains a primary and secondary school, he often works long hours and is always the last one to leave the school. When I first entered class 1, I remember always seeing him doing carpentry, mowing the lawns and fixing many broken things and he is still doing so now. The gardener was at school working when he heard that his humble small home had caught fire.
