Festival Sweets For Strangers

This Diwali, I planned to celebrate the festival by doing some kind acts. I emailed few colleagues to join me however all were busy with festival celebration. I also had enough work and a meeting got scheduled on the Diwali day itself hence i had to visit office. I was thinking it won't be possible but then I got an idea of distributing sweets right near office. Looked like a good idea but I had not made any full fledged plans. When I reached office I already started feeling bad for security and kitchen staff who were working on holiday, so they got tagged. Around lunch time, I wanted to go and purchase sweets when I thought of buying pizza for lunch, along with giving sweets to pizza hut workers, who were also at work on holiday. This was pretty exciting as young boys n girls work at pizza hut and i was ... Read Full Story >>

'Food Of Sacrifice' and 90 Year Old Jalaben

Today I participated in "tyaag nu tiffin" (food of sacrifice) in the morning. To my absolute surprise, when I took food the first time to 90 year old Jalaben.

She treated me so very generously with love, appreciation and hugs for 5 minutes that I was thrilled with this childlike happy welcome. She kept thanking God for making daughters like me 😊 I am still feeling grateful for a deep experience of loving acceptance in those beautiful moments.

A Magical Sweet Kindness Felt in The AIr

Today, I was traveling in a local bus and thought of practicing compassion.

After around half journey, I got up and gave my seat to a girl who was standing. She was busy on her mobile and after around 4 stops, asked me whether i will be getting down? When I told her, I would still be there, she was pleasantly surprised. She said in a sweeter and respectful tone that she was leaving at that stop. There was a magical effect of this change in tone.

Later I gave the seat to another girl, who used it for few stops. She realized later that i was still in the bus. While she passed by me to exit, i could sense small gratitude for a second, though no words were exchanged. She talked softly and kindly on her phone at this point.

These created an environment of concerned co-passengers and kindness could be felt in the space around. I felt happy sensing the ripple effect.

One Little Moment That Melted My Heart

I pass by a road once in a while, where a homeless, handicapped person sits with his leg spread out. Today, I thought of giving him something. I asked if he needs a juice, he agreed.

When I got fresh juice and went back, handing it with care, he took it with shivering hands. He had this disease as well, 'oh my God', I thought. He was even finding it difficult to hold the glass and have juice. He really needed some juice in afternoon weather and somehow this got conveyed.
That one moment melted my heart in some way.

He actually needs a lot more: some care, money, medical treatment and place to stay.We generally ignore such people but some of them are really struggling and need help.
