Extra Care For A Teacher Going Through A Difficult Time

--by flowerpower, posted Apr 6, 2011

On Monday, my fiancee and I heard that our astronomy teacher's mother had died.  We were surprised that he was still teaching in school. My fiancee was telling me that as the teacher was teaching, he had felt such empathy for the man, because as he was lecturing, you can sense he was trying to be strong, in the midist of teaching.

We came up with an idea. The teacher is such a passionate and warm hearted person, and we figured that, he could use a good dose of  love and cheer. That night after school, we meditated for our teacher as well as his beloved mother. We like to meditate using Metta and Tonglen, both very loving spiritual meditation practices ;)

When we went back to school (yesterday), we gave him cheer up cards which we had take time to decorate with flowers, hearts and peace signs. As we had handed the cards to him, we both could see the light in his eyes. The look on his face, said how much he appretiated what we did for him. The whole atomasphere was very warm and loving, its kinda hard to express in words.

He appreciated it very much and the the expression on his face was really priceless and gave a warm hearted feeling for all of us.

This morning, when we both went to see the teacher again, he had been so happy, and had given us both a hug. This made us both feel that we just might have made his day, and that he was going to be okay.

With that, i want to remind you to take the time to smile at the ones you love, be extra genorous with hugs, kisses, things of that lovely nature!!  Life is so precious, so let us be happy and enjoy the gift of life.

Her daughter has decided to help her hospital as she said by taking part in a sponsored walk and she's only 5 years old. We got the teacher a box of chocolates for herself and her husband, her daughter a tiara and necklace for dressing up as a princess for the walk and £20 donation in a card. When we gave her this she was so overwhelmed and explained how difficult it was and broke down in tears. She appreciated what we had done for her and it felt really good to know it meant a lot to her. To raise money we are getting the school involved by having a bake sale and maybe also an event to raise money. It feels really good helping people and knowing it's appreciated and means a lot to the person.
