Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Flowers for Those Who Want to See Them

First, thank you for taking the time to read my posts – it's really comforting to know that there are warm-hearted, kind, and encouraging people on this site. I can always seek comfort here and have fun sharing my experiences with random acts of kindness and giving.

Today, I finished making a drawing for my friend Valerie. She recently broke up with someone, and I thought she could use a bit of cheer, so I drew a picture of flowers, like the ones that blossom during the spring! I must tell you all, I have a really soft spot for bright, pretty, and cute things (I often use the term kawaii for cute). So I took some time with the detail, with the petals and such, using violets, raspberry, and pink colors! They are all so uplifting to me. I also put in a few of my own encouraging quotes, which I use daily. One thing I always say to my friends is that there are always flowers for those who want to see them. Well, it's true!

This morning, I found my fiancée during my walk to school.  Since he and Val are close friends, and I didn't see her around, I gave the picture to him and asked him to give it to her when he sees her. His response: "Awwwwww!" and I replied, "Awwwww, yeah, she deserves it!" I can't wait to hear her response to it!

Doing this and actually putting time into the drawing made me feel accomplished and at peace with myself. It gave me a sense of happiness.

For the 29-Day Giving Challenge, I wonder whether it's okay to give more then one gift in one day because I feel the need to give, even though I really don't have money to get stuff. Rest assured, though, I understand well that the gifts themselves don't have to be material. Doing this actually helps me to pay attention to the little things, because they are actually the big things, and it's those small, kind moments that people will remember the most.
