A Festive Welcome for a Grieving Friend
Reena, one of my colleagues, was very sad. She was worrying about her personal problems. Her husband had recently passed away. She was suffering both emotionally and financially. She looked as if she has forgotten how to smile. She could not focus on her work. She did not even come for the tea break. As she had not eaten properly for several days, she fell unconscious in office. She was admitted in the hospital. After a few days, she recovered and returned to the office. Another colleague, Charmi, had an idea of welcoming Reena back to cheer her up. So we prepared a handmade welcome card. Everybody wrote some beautiful positive quotation and signed it. Somebody drew nice cartoons on it. Someone watercolored it and pasted some glittering particles on it. Someone else made 2 paper butterflies and pasted them on the card. It was cool. When Reena entered into her cabin, ... Read Full Story >>

A Child Forgoes Firecrackers to Help Other Children
Hi friends. I would like to share an incident with you. Just as Christmas is celebrated by Christians, "Diwali" is celebrated by Hindus. On that day people wear new dresses, eat sweets, and set off firecrackers. A little girl of 10 in my neighborhood is a good friend. Every year she celebrates Diwali in a grand manner, buying at least two boxes of firecrackers and two new dresses in order to have a grand feast on that day. But last year I was amazed to see her. She was in a simple dress playing with her younger brother without setting off any firecrackers. I asked her the reason. She said she had seen a documentary film on the making of crackers in her school which explained the process of making them, the child labor involved in the industry, their sufferings, their lack of education, and the pollution created ... Awakening to Kindness
It was a long, hard day for me. I was going back home from work by bus. The stress from work weighed heavily on my mind.
A girl was sitting next to me, who I didn't know. She asked me some questions casually and we had a short conversation. She was just a stranger/passer-by I thought to myself and didn't take much interest.
After a while, she suddenly handed me some chocolates and said that it was her birthday. I instantly responded with a smile and my heart felt free of the stress that I had been carrying. In a single moment I felt the heaviness of the day transform into lightness of a feather.
Her simple act gave me joy even I though I don't particularly enjoy sweets as much. I wished her a long life.
I realized that even small acts can make a person feel happy. I can't remember her face but recalling the incident makes me happy.

A Little Boy's Box of Savings
After the tsunami hit India, many people who lived near the coastal areas were severely affected, lost homes, lost many lives.
College girls were asked to collect money from their nighbourhood. So we formed a group and engaged ourselves in collecting money for the tsunami relief fund. In our area, we showed a sign board, which read, "Please help tsunami victims," to the people in neighbourhood and asked for their help. They donated money or dresses or rice or medicine or anything which has a longer expiry date.
A small boy who was on the way to his school came running to us and asked us to wait there for some time. After 5 minutes he came running to us and handed his small savings box.
It was a plastic box in which there were many coins inside. He said he got that little box from his granny as a birthday gift for saving coins. And he wanted it to be donated for the fund.
Vow! What a big heart!
It was the real greatest offering collected by us.
Thank you sweet heart!
