Stranger On The Train

I had to visit my sister in another town because her husband was very ill. My whole family could not go because school was in session. My children stayed back in their father's care, except for the youngest, who was just a year old. I was nervous taking a train journey alone with my daughter. I knew that I had to go, so I gathered all my courage and boarded the train. After waving goodbye to my husband, I settled down. There were three other passengers in that compartment. Two of them were quite elderly, while one was a young man. My daughter was crying, missing her dad. I tried to console her, but to no avail. I tried giving her water, then some biscuits, but her crying would not cease. By this time I was getting worried about the disturbance being caused to the others. One of the oldies was ... The Smile That Stole My Heart

Recently, I went to a small town for a short holiday with my husband and daughter. On the first evening, we decided to visit the nearest eateries to check out the local delicacies and do some shopping as well. After spending some time buying this and that, we decided to get a bite to eat. We had to await our turn at the restaurant. I stood on the street outside, looking at the crowd of holiday makers. Suddenly, I noticed a small boy of about seven clutching an array of hand -made gift bags. They were small but very colourful. The boy smiled widely and asked me to buy one. He said he had made the bags himself as he wanted to contribute in the household expenditure. I smiled back and asked the price of the bag. He named an exorbitant amount. I told him it was too much for such ... Read Full Story >>

Strangers Spring into Action to Help Out on a Busy Road

In these days of apathy and the non caring attitudes of  so many people, I was pleasantly surprised to see a kind act unfolding right in front of me in a busy intersection. We were waiting in our car for the traffic lights to turn green, when I saw a young man's bicycle topple and fall against the side walk. The heavy load of cartons and other packages fell to the ground together with the cycle. Though, most of the cartons were tied to the bicycle, he obviously could not pick up the whole load on his own. Since, it was a busy road, he glanced here and there, hoping for some help. I prayed for someone to come to his aid, but without much hope. I was wondering what would happen to the young man, when I saw two men come out of their car which was first in line, waiting ... The Night Guard

Winter had arrived with biting cold winds. We shivered even with sweaters and coats. One night, as we entered our building gate after a late night party, my husband noticed the guard wearing only a pullover.

He immediately took off his jacket and gave it to him. The guard wore the jacket then and there and thanked my husband profusely. I was touched by this action.

Every time I see the guard standing at the gate wearing the jacket, my heart soars with pleasure.

Kindness In A New City

Hi friends,  I'm connecting with you all after a very long time. The epidemic had caused havoc in my extended family and I had been busy looking after my family. Last year I relocated to a new city with my husband and daughter and got busy settling in. This place is very different from where I lived before and we had a lot of adjusting. Now that things are running smoothly due to God’s help, I thought of letting you know about a kind act my daughter had the opportunity to enact, a week before.  We had a religious ceremony at home. We in India keep many fruits and sweetmeats at God’s altar and eat them before breakfast. After the ceremony, I told my daughter that there were so many extra things we wouldn’t finish. She suggested that she go with her father and look for someone who deserves all these extra fruits, etc. ... Read Full Story >>
