Courageous Freeway Kindness Ensures a Man's Safety

One evening I was in Los Angeles traffic navigating rush hour to get to an orchestra rehearsal. Cars were moving in stop and go traffic at a slow pace. Suddenly I heard horns honking, and a crash. Two car lengths in front of me a motorcyclist had fallen down, rolled off his bike and landed on the freeway! I stopped and shouted to find out if he was OK. He did get up and started to walk his bike off the five lane freeway. I then proceeded to block traffic so he wouldn't get run over and followed him to the side of the freeway. Another driver that had also seen him fall pulled over to help. The driver immediately called for paramedics and Highway Patrol. Dinnertime Gift

Last minute errands to run before teaching my last college class before Thanksgiving. Break started. I ran into a Panda Express to grab a quick dinner. There were a few people ahead of me in line - distractedly I was eyeing the dishes to decide what to eat, and the young man ahead of me in line interrupted my thoughts and said, "Please, go ahead of me." I replied, "No, no worries, I'm not in a huge hurry." And he said, "Please, I'm a little tired so I want to rest against the wall." Then I noticed he had one and a half legs - his right leg from the knee down was missing. We started to chat about Thanksgiving, college (he was a student at UCLA studying to be a teacher), and various casual topics.
