Simple Thank Yous
I walked up Main Street in our town today at lunch and saw three different city workers attending to things - one was cleaning a fountain, putting a great deal of effort and care into his work, the other two were much younger people emptying garbage and recycling containers.
I thanked each of them for their efforts and commented on how I appreciated their work. Huge smiles from each of them. Instant karma, indeed.

Kindness Connection
I was at the Indian grocery store with my cart totally full to check out. There was an African American man in his sixties behind me. I told him he could go before me as he had just two items in his hand, and he was all smiles and added, as if teasing me, "Thanks! Why don't you pay for my stuff too," and laughed. I told the lady at the check out not to charge him, right away. Taken aback, he said, "No no no, I was just joking." And I replied with a smile, "Yes yes, your wish is heard. Please let me do it!" As we talked outside he told me that the Indian herbs that he had bought were for his friend 's medical condition and so I should take the money. I said to him, "It's good that it's not for you. Now you can pay it ... Read Full Story >>

Day 3: Book Giving
I posted on Facebook that I had the trilogy-The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest. I also explained about today's act of kindness.
My co worker said his wife would like them. So I'm going to get a gift bag and take them to her.

Sharing My Love for Reading
I am having a really good clear out and found a load of books my son will never read again - I've donated them to his school library. That way I know they will be enjoyed and go to the best possible home!

Pass the Peanut Butter Popcorn, Please!
Today I surprised my husband's team, and my husband, with homemade peanut butter popcorn. My husband has been intently curious about my acts of random kindness and he got to participate today by sneaking the bags of yummy with smile cards attached, onto the desks of his team.
The added bonus was that he was all giggly at getting his own bag (as a cover story), but more about participating. It was great to finally see one persons delight and glee at getting a smile card, even if it was someone close to me :)

Major Life Lesson Learned
The first day of "pay it forward" I paid for the person behind me in the drive through at Starbucks.
Day 2 of "pay it forward", I made a phone call to an old friend. I hadn't talked with her for over 18 months. Life had become so busy. I found out that she had been dealing with a type of Leukemia for over a year. Also she had become totally isolated from her former life. This made me aware of how important it is to stay connected and I have vowed not to let this happen again - with anyone!

Take Time To Daydream
Why Daydreaming May Be Good For You:
If you thought daydreamers were just wasting their time, think again. Harnessing the power of visual imagination is an efficient and enjoyable way to activate the relaxation response. So get in on the daydreaming action.
Try picturing a place from your past, where you felt happy, secure, and peaceful. Then imagine yourself there, making all the sensory impressions - smells, sounds, sights - as sharp as possible. It's a simple, cost-effective way to feel happier and calmer in no time.

Surprise Packages, Gifting Books
I'm going through my bookshelf and sharing books that have deeply touched my heart. Some I will send as surprise packages to people I know will resonate with, others I will place in public spaces for whomever the universe decides needs them most.
I love this idea! Thank you kindspring for the ongoing Inspiration! A hug from my heart to yours!

Thank You Mr. Crossing Guard
There is a crossing guard I see every day on my way to work. He is always smiling and always sure to wave as you pass by. Today I pulled up next to him, rolled down my window and handed him a Starbucks gift card and a smile card. I then told him that I hope he has the best day ever!

I will never forget
A few years ago (when I was in college) and comically poor, I had just made up with my parents and was headed home for the first time in a few years. I'd dropped out and was working for t-mobile and made a decent life supporting myself but a few months prior to I had a meltdown and realized I had to go back to school. I caved, called my dad, and asked for help. Before I started driving the ~9hrs home, I decided to stop at the grocery store to grab some chips, red bull, etc. It was a few days before Christmas, and I was super down on myself about how poor I was, how my parents were paying for me to head up, how I felt like such a waste, and how I felt like I'd failed to support myself. !I went in, grabbed some stuff, then realized I was ... Uplifting Music For A Dear Friend
It's been a tough day for me and I was worried I might not get the opportunity to gift a book. So I remembered a dear friend who has not been in good health and sent him an email with a link to some really uplifting music: Beethoven's 9th Symphony. I sent the music along with my warmest wishes and kindness, in hopes that I could cheers him up.

Fruit For A Hungry Man
Walking to the elevated railway I passed a man in a doorway holding a sign asking for money for food. I smiled at him and wished him a good day.
As I got closer to the train station I saw a man selling fruit. So I bought a bag and walked it back to the hungry man in the doorway.
I didn't know about this website then. It's just the way I operate. I am deeply grateful for the love, joy, and happiness in my life and I give it back every chance I get.
Sometimes it's a smile or a compliment but I am always trying to put it out there in return. It's the best!

Big Smile
Today I did a few little things: I thanked the bus drivers for my safe trip. I helped a woman hold her baby while she was struggling to open up the stroller. I gave many a person a big genuine smile. I also left a smile card for someone to find it.

Lunchbox Love
This morning, while my husband prepared to go to work, I tucked a envelope into his lunchbox. The outside contained a red heart and read: "Open me when you need to know how much I love you". Inside was a letter expressing how much he means to me and to our family!

Building Community
My friend has been moving, over the last several weeks. Yesterday, we loaded up our cars with the boxes in her storage unit and carried them up three flights of stairs. As a bonus, we met a few of her neighbors, who were full of smiles and welcomes. Kindness is all around.

The Joy of Passing On Books
I went through my bookshelf and identified more than a dozen books that are going to find a new home where they will be enjoyed and read. It was an act of kindness to myself to have created some space on my bookshelf.
The books being given away have served me well and will hopefully be just as useful to the new owner/readers. I am a big fan of libraries and think that the same book being read by many people is such efficient use of the resources. In example, the trees that were killed to make the paper that the book is written on, it was not in vain.

A Note in my Lunch Box
At the beginning of this week I was touched to tears, when I opened my lunch box at work. Somehow I was feeling not so good that day, it was hard for me to get up in the morning, and so on.
When I opened my lunch box at work, I saw a little piece of paper. The piece of paper was a note from my mom saying that she loves me and wished me a blessed day!
My heart was so touched, I am so thankful that God gave me a mother that notices when I am a little down. The next day I had another note! My mom made a difference in my day and I will never forget this special touch of kindness!

Goin' Around the Neighborhood
I left flowers on one neighbor's porch today and freshly picked cherry tomatoes on the other's. Karma works immediately sometimes. A different neighbor called me later in the day, and offered me delicious Asian pears off of his tree. I love it!

Extended Assistance
Today, I offered to help a dear friend who was severely burned yesterday, with anything she needed, and extended the offer to her daughter who is caring for her, as well.
I also offered to make a delivery in my home town for a colleague that would otherwise have had to make a special trip that would be a little over 64 miles. With gas prices the way they are, she was most appreciative.

My Day #1 Act Of Kindness
I teach at a small private school. We have an employee, I don't even know exactly what her title is, but if you want anything, she does it for you. She is the most selfless person I have ever met, and she never let's anyone do something nice for her without her paying you back tenfold.
For my Day #1 act of kindness I picked up a pastry from her favorite bakery, and snuck it into her box with a little note that said "You are awesome!" It drove her crazy that she didn't know who it was from and that she couldn't repay them.
