Some More Soaps To Give Away

An employee of the sanitation department showed up at the doorstep. He was spreading awareness on segregating waste between degradable and non-degradable. Bless him.
He also insisted that I share my contact details. While I politely refused to share details, I saw to it that I handed him soaps for the sanitation workers. While he was not happy that I didn't want to share details, he was still happy that I gave him soaps. We bid adieu with a smile unto each other. Corona's on the rise in India. Stay safe peeps.

A Bottle Of Water And A Banana

Brought a bottle of water and an extra banana with me this morning, just in case I saw someone who may be in need, especially since the weather is getting hot now.

Saw a man who looked in need, and gave them both to him.

A Sandwich And A Bottle Of Water On A Hot Day

I often go to a local restaurant to get take out food, and often notice a an older man sitting outside, with a baseball cap on the ground in front of him for people to leave spare coins or money for him.

This morning, I got an extra sandwich and then went to see if he was there.

He was, so I went to a nearby corner grocery store to get a bottle of water to give to him, as it is getting very warm this weekend.

I offered them to him, and he accepted both, and I told him to take care.

I felt so bad knowing that he likely did not have any place cool in which he could seek refuge. 😢

I am Only an Instrument

Being Kind Spring’s Community Member Of The Week ❤️ Maherunnisabahen and her husband Sharifbhai at AMWA blessed me with a shawl in recognition of the kind acts I do. It is the first time I have received one. After seeing tremendous work done by Maherunnisaben and her team, my mind was occupied by AMWA to do some more kind acts to be worthy of getting a shawl. I thank Maherunnisabahen for the inspiration. The inspiration, and being Kind Spring’s Community Member Of The Week, put me on my toes that kept me busy during the whole week! June 12: Gave donations to needy people. Bought groceries for needy lady. Gave T-shirts to needy kids. The joy on their faces made my day. Made quote cards appropriate for Shakti Mela - helping entrepreneur women and their crafts.. Paid for a school uniform for one needy girl. They were very appreciative. Sent Shakti Mela info on some of my contacts. June 13 Visited ... Read Full Story >>

Pop Time

For Father's Day, my girls gave me a "Pops Basket" filled with popcorn, PopTarts, popcorn shrimp, soda pop, Pop Chips, etc... I loved it, but won't consume some of the stuff because I have to keep an eye on my "pop bod".

Today, I took the Tootsie Pops with me to get my booster shot. I asked the pharmacist when he finished if I get a lollipop. He said only for the next shot. So, I gave him one instead. You should have seen his face. Surprised, smiling and delighted.
It wasn't the candy, but it was knowing I had brought it for him.

When I was clear to leave, I headed to Vons for some avocados. When I was done being wrung up, I gave the person, who I see every week, another Tootsie Pop. Same response.

Something so simple, can brighten a moment in a person's day!

Side by Side Neighbors

🐞Ladybugs & Gelato….. My next door neighbor wowed me twice this afternoon. I went out to talk with her and when I offered her the pint of gelato that we couldn’t open, she told me to wait a minute…..she went in her house & came out with a rubber band…said she could get it to open right away by putting the rubber band around the lid! And she did…1, 2, 3!, I couldn’t believe it. Never knew :)) When I told her I wanted to give it to her she said, “no, you enjoy it…you earned it!” (Trying to open it a few days ago is what caused my needing stitches in my thumb, would you believe! 🤪 🧤 I noticed her garden gloves were very worn as we spoke. I have a few new pair that a charity had sent me, so I went in to get a pair & gave them to her. ... Read Full Story >>

Hearts Connect Us

A few months ago someone gifted us a roomba, robot vacuum cleaner. We already have a regular vacuum cleaner and I didn't really see us using this new one, so it just sat in its box. One of our neighbors is moving away (next week) to a new house and I thought of asking her whether this might be something she could use....it turns out that she enthusiastically replied YES!! Her new place has hardwood floors and her daughter was asking if they could get a roomba but she said they would have to wait and see....and now she doesn't have to buy one!  I can't tell you how overjoyed I was to see her daughter's response when she came over AND she was as excited about the flower seeds I gave her from our backyard to plant in their new home so that they will always have a piece of our ... Rhubarb - World Domination!

That’s what a friend said her prolific rhubarb patch was plotting, so I gladly agreed to accept some 😊.

Along with a few extra ears of corn from my niece, I was able to make a nice little selection of preserves to share.

Created labels from used page-a-day calendar pages and viola! Jars of strawberry-rhubarb jam and corn relish with inspiratinal messages, ready to gift Greg - our postman, Center’s director, fellow residents of sister’s apartment complex, etc...

Bringing a few jars as we camp - we’ll be camping for the next few days enjoying the first rays of summer. Maybe a neighboring camper might be in need of some preservation kindness? 🫙

MisterM limited out on rainbow trout in a record 30 minutes!

He then sat back and helped tourists with their gear prep, sharing leaders from his own tackle, mini-marshmallows for bait, and lots of fishing tips.

I offered sourdough chocolate chip cookies, plus gave Peace Doves and a few flapping cranes.

Tourist season! Love the diversity, connections and pleasantries exchanged.

Kind Neighbors

Nice kindness circle between my husband and our neighbors today. Neighbor printed out 100 copies of an article for my husband after learning he wanted to pass the article out during his daily park walk/runs.

Link to article: https://www.kindspring.org/my/feed/index.php?sid=218513

So hubby brought over a ream of paper when he picked up the copies. They said it wasn't necessary, but accepted it with some prompting. Hubby plans to share 10 copies a day at the park as he smiles at passing strangers & did so today. They were well received.

Kindness At Home

I have been home ill with a sore throat and feel like I have nothing to post about kindness. I am not out and about or doing much.
I have signed petitions, sent off emails to a friend and my mother and loved up the animals as best I can.
I came across this Jane Goodall quote. Thought the group would like it.

Reminders And An Interesting Book

Yesterday was very busy with deliveries and collections so I was determined to take today at a slightly slower pace. I belong to a writers' group and I joined a Zoom call this morning to discuss and write some flash fiction. Before the call, I was listening to a podcast about Loving which I listened to last year and Richard Rohr and Jacqui Lewis were discussing how we can love people who come from a different culture to our own. Richard spoke about Native American Initiation Rites.

I had written a flash story the other day and I mentioned Native American rites so it was good to be reminded of where the idea had come from.

I have also been approved by a publisher to read an advance copy of a book. It is coming out in August and I will try to publish a review nearer the time of it publication. It's written about the situation in the UK but I'm sure it will resonate in other cultures.

Serendipity

This past week I was able to go off on a little domestic tourism trip. Took my neighbors who have been so wonderful to me throughout my move to Belize & COVID-19 for a trip north to Lamanai Mayan Ruins.

It was a great trip. We ended up on a small tour up the river with a young German couple who have been traveling Mexico & Central America for a few months. They were leaving the next day, as were we, for the town across the river from our village, so of course I offered them a ride.

The back of a truck versus a 4-5 hour ride on a local bus? No contest. We took them thru Spanish Lookout & across the river on the 3-car hand-cranked wooden ferry, with a stop for handmade ice cream. The next day I went to the PO & I had a beautiful letter from Germany 💕 Such a kindness.

Supporting Dad

My dad has been feeling pretty down and discouraged lately. He's been in the hospital for 2.5 weeks and is now recovering there from an open surgery he had done on Thursday.

Today I brought him a blanket from home as he was saying he felt cold these past few nights. To help with the boredom I bought him some new books to read and some crosswords to work on.

More than anything, I know he's grateful that I'm visiting him daily and trying to keep his spirits up. This past week I've been going to his house more frequently to clean everything up that way when he eventually comes home to continue to heal, he doesn't need to worry about anything 💕

❤️ Kindness Serendipity…..

💕 My husband shared about a wonderful synchronicity that came from a kindness act he did this morning at the dermatologist office, when he gifted the doctor a Bob Marley tape. I asked him to write it up in his own words so I could share it here as it really blew our minds (in a good way, lol). 💫 Here’s what transpired: “When I went to the dermatologist last May I wanted to have her check some dark marks on my toe. I knew that Bob Marley died from melanoma on his toe which was overlooked. She was very surprised that I knew about it because while he has many devoted fans not many knew this fact. It turned out to be nothing. Pshew! When I went for a follow up visit I brought her a copy of "Bob Marley's Best" as I thought every dermatologist should have one. Synchronicity struck. The nurse ... 😊 Bright & Shiny At Sea 🛳

The first morning at sea aboard the Grand Princess, I chose to join the Tai Chi class, after a simple breakfast brought to our cabin by Justine - our room service steward. He brought us coffee (even when I forgot to check coffee once!) and a continental breakfast every morning via a card menu we filled out and placed on our door every evening. I always wrote a simple SMILE greeting or HAVE A NICE DAY on the card. Justine noticed the messages and was sure to point out his SMILE (behind his mask) and seemed appreciative of the kind words and Peace Doves. Back at Tai Chi, I gave Imelda - a fellow student who helped lead the class after we discovered it was taught by a video, a Peace Dove. She was touched, showing it to her husband and asked if she could give me a hug. Every time we crossed paths aboard ... Read Full Story >>

Standing Strong Together

For many years there has been a standing yoga pose that has been and continues to be one of my favourites. It incorporates balance, trust and support. Each time I have participated in this practice I have felt a deep sense of connection with all those in the group. And it makes me smile. Instead of standing alone, the class stands in a circle close enough for us to hold hands, left palms up, right palms down, each of us giving and receiving. As a unit we shift our weight to one foot, picking up the other foot and resting the heel against our ankle or calf muscle. Slowly we change the hand position so that we are palm to palm. We raise our arms creating a crown of hands above our heads respecting the reach of the person on either side of us. A gentle sway may start and soon we realize we ... Read Full Story >>

Today we were finally able to connect and they surprised me with these flowers, along with some freshly picked 🍒, some vegan banana bread one of them made, and a card with with a message that continues to remind me of what an honor and privilege it is to work with the most caring and special human beings that I've ever known 💚. As most teachers would say, "I love my students 💜!"
