Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Spending Time With A Friend

I invited one of my Japanese guests to stay a weekend in the country as there was a special event. She was such good company, so appreciative and kind. Everything was a surprise, she was in awe of everything, constantly saying 'wow' :-)))
Met neighbours, friends, market stall people, she'd try to talk to everyone practising her English. We had meals together in the garden, did a little shopping, walked, had the traditional English tea (which she loved, ate all of her bits and some of mine!) Unforgettable memories for both of us!
A super fun weekend full of kindness

One Of My Japanese Guest

One of my Japanese guests kindly helped me plant a few flowers that I'd bought a few days ago. He heard me talk about it and said he loves gardening so I suggested he'd do it. I'm not very strong at the moment, though getting there :-) and I was worried they might die. He seemed truly happy to plant them and see them there. I was very grateful. It does get frustrating sometimes, after such a long time in and out of hospital, painful procedures, operations, etc. So many challenges people go through at times...but no matter how strong we are there's days, as you all know, when it's the kindness of others that gets you through.
I'll get you a photo later. In the meantime, wanted to be here with you all and send you a kind and loving hug

A Good Day

Yesterday, I went to a cricket match between England Women's Team and India Women's Team. There was a wonderful atmosphere and I thoroughly enjoyed the match and celebrations.

When I arrived at the ground, I bought a programme which I read when I got to my seat. I remembered having bought a previous one and whilst it's a lovely souvenir of the day, it usually finished up filed on a bookshelf and forgotten about. Later in the day, I went into the shop and decided to buy a 'Cricket Alphabet' book to send to the boy for him to share with other students. It sruck me that rather than filing my programme, I could send it along with the alphabet I would include it in the package for Poovarasu.

Visit To The Lake

I finally got to go with my son to the lake . I tried to go a couple times when my son has work days off but the weather never worked out. Until I just gave it to god . I just put it in his hands and it was a beautiful day. We were around a nice family and I overheard the mom say to her boys ok now remember its Emily's birthday today that's why were here . I got a nice new foot able raft to take with us and packed lunch for us. By the time we got there it was more humid which is what we wanted so the water was great not to hot or cold just right. We tried out our new raft but it didn't seem to hold us up only when you put weight in the middle on your stomach worked. I thought ... Read Full Story >>

Passing On A Gift I Once Received

When I was a child growing up in Togo, life wasn’t easy. I was raised by my mother alone, and there were many days when going to school felt out of reach. But one person — a man with a big heart — changed everything. He decided to support my education, quietly, year after year. That simple act of kindness opened every door in my life. Today, I am a man, a husband, a father, and a communication professional. But more than anything, I carry with me the desire to do for others what was once done for me. So this year, I’ve started a very personal project. I want to help 100 children in my country — many of them being raised by widows or single mothers — go back to school. We’re putting together simple school kits, paying small tuition fees, and above all, giving hope. There is no big organization behind this. Just one person, trying to extend the kindness he once received. Whether or not you believe in fate, I believe that kindness travels — it multiplies, it echoes, and it builds futures. Thank you for reading this. May kindness guide your day, as it continues to guide mine. πŸ’› — Edouard

A Kind Local Gardener

A few weeks ago the local gardener came to help me with the hedge as it is so difficult for me to do on my own. He's a lovely man and I always enjoy talking to him. We talked about the flowers we liked and I mentioned that I would like to get lupines some days because they look gorgeous at the garden centre. Today he was due to do the lawn, which only takes 45 mins so I didn't get to see him. When I got to my garden he'd left. I checked my phone to call and thank him and he'd left me a message saying that he'd left some lupine seeds for me in the post. How sweet and kind is that?!

Tai Chi With Neighbours

I'm trying to organise a Tai Chi lesson for neighbours in my garden. I thought it'd be a lovely way to get to know people and offer space for community while doing something good for our physical and mental wellbeing. I tried it myself a few years ago, pre pandemic, and really enjoyed the gentle movement and flow...I've got 6 people interested so far so I'm really happy. Now hoping the teacher will give us a good price to make it possible. Needless to say I told everyone they could stay for a cup of tea afterwards :-)

Kind Conversations Lead To Friendship?

I made a new friend today, possibly two new friends. The first was a mother with a child in a buggy. I passed her on my way to cross the road and then I realised she was behind me so I checked she wanted to cross. When she nodded, I pressed the button so it was ready as she approached the crossing. She explained she was taking her daughter to the doctor because she was clearly unwell. We chatted until she reached the point where she needed to cross the road to get to the surgery.

I carried on to do my shopping. As I turned into the road which leads to the street my house is on I saw a younger woman pushing a shopper. I'd said hello and good morning to her before but today, I commented on how it was dull. She agreed but also said she was thankful it was cooler. I crossed and told her I was too. We chatted for about five minutes and as I was about to move on, I told her my name was Helen and she said her name was Leanne.

Both encounters helped me feel better about the day.

Give It To God And He Does Help

I got so busy with life, I completely forgot about KindSpring. I have a good story to tell. I needed money for gas. Asked several people, they couldn't help. I said ok God, I give it to you. You know my need. Come lunch time, I looked on my phone. A man I had help two weeks prior with food for him and his dog, sent me back the $20. Exactly the amount I needed. I never expected the money to be given back, I was just helping them. God did it for me. Thanks.

Kindness On The Ground And In the Air

Kindness on the ground, In the Air and on the ground again. I am grateful to my nephew who dropped me off at the SNA airport on June 30. His wife cooked and gave me a large packet of roti. I am grateful to her too. I love to spread kindness. While waiting before the boarding time I gave three quote cards to a lady seated near me. I give them with firm understanding and remembering that God residing in me is giving to the God residing in others. I showed and gave fer the quote card that changed Fatemah's life for the better. I talked to her about KindSpring. org and told her intense positive thinking story. She was listening to me with interest. I rewarded her with a homemade birthday card and gave her some more cards to share with others. I was guessing that a lady would occupy the seat ... Read Full Story >>

Reunited

This is a story of kindness I heard this weekend from my mom. My mom found an old book at a yard sale from the 1800s. It was the story of a church and how it was founded and about its founders. She realized that the church was still standing and active, nearly 200 years later, so she boxed up the book and sent it to the church. She wrote a note with her contact information. About a week later they called and thanked her. They were thrilled, she said. They had never even heard of the book and they said they would treasure it.

Again Kindness Travels With Me

Again Kindness Travels With Me I always try to be helpful to others. I do admire and try my level best to follow Albert Einstein's quote "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile." To follow my goal I use positive stories, quote cards and Birthday cards etc.. The night before I left for CA was rainy. There were 30% chances of rain, but I expected the clear weather on the day of my travel - June 19, 2025, from Chicago to Irvine CA. Positivity found its way, giving me a beautiful morning to scatter positivity and kindness during the day. I am grateful to my son for booking my ticket, checking in online, and giving me the ride to the airport. He pre-checked luggage bag and talked to the check in lady at the drop bag counter. He told her about my hearing problem; he requested a wheelchair. I told ... Read Full Story >>

Last Night Was The 50th Anniversary

Last night was the 50th Anniversary Homecoming for the volunteers who have helped in the park near me. I was on the committee putting the event together and we had well over 100 folks show up and reminisce about their time being volunteers. I was welcomed and learned a lot as I haven’t even put in a year yet. (This picture was submitted by someone for our slide show.)
