Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Support The School Fees For Our Gardener's Kid

Our community gardener is a soft, gentle person. He has two school going kids who are going to a private school. He is unable to fund the school fees for one kid. My wife jumped in, talked to him and his wife to get more details. She told them that she will be glad to put in a word with the principal of a local government school where there are no fees and the school has smart technology facilities.
My gardener and his wife were unaware of such a school but the admission could be only available for the next year. My wife and I spoke and we decided to pitch in funding for the kid along with one of our neighbors for this year. Small help but the gardener is not one of the asking type so we had to really follow-up with him to understand what he is going through.

Best students ever!

Every teacher says this but...I have the best students ever! Joelle greeted me with this piece of (vegan) pumpkin bread from Philz, where she works. You'll notice I've already had my share! If you've ever had this, you know how scrumptious it is:). Joelle and I have more conversations around being fellow vegans than we do calculus:).

And a senior wrote me a thoughtful thank you, offering me, as well as our mother earth, the best gift ever: she's working toward becoming a vegan! I can't think of a sweeter gift<3. Oh, and every teacher who says they have the best students...it's true<3<3<3.

Gifted Crocheted Blanket To Newborn

❀️ Some do’s:

🧢 Walked over to our neighbor-friends with the blanket I crocheted for their newborn when I saw them sitting on their porch. They were surprised and thanked me with kind words and big smiles. Their little boy (toddler) came out & showed me a pretty round disc with the words “ 2 weeks” (the age of his sister) on it…proud big brother ❀️

Encouraged two friends today who needed uplift. It seemed to help them.πŸ™

Labor Of Love And Gratitude

(9 May 2023 update): Just finished watching and transcribing the interview with Shahroo Izadi (The Kindness Method) being interviewed by Steven Bartlett (Diary of a CEO). Incredible! I can’t recommend it enough, especially for anyone who has ever looked in the mirror and wanted to punch it or burst into tears. I’ve spent the last four days with them transcribing this and making the graphics. (I’ll finish this week.) Everything in bold after the intro will become a graphic eventually. This is one of about 14 so far. I want to remember this. ♥ https://rx4healing.wordpress.com/2023/05/05/the-kindness-method/ "So then I had a session with my therapist and she said, “What if you never change?” And I was so angry, I can’t begin to tell you. And I’m not a particularly angry person, but I was really angry with her. Because I thought, “Well if I don’t change, then I never start living. I never start being nice to myself. ... Read Full Story >>

Thank You Note

Hello everyone,
Hope you all are doing well and your kindness journey is going well.
It seems like ages I haven't had a conversation with anyone here.. I would like to thank Mindy mam for sending crayons, cloth book and doves for my baby Myansh.
And Rajni uncle for making me some bookmarks and greetings. Myansh was so happy watching those colorful things.. He is fond of crayons. He does scribble with those daily. It has become a part of our routine. And also I have to hide the goodnight teddy book. Whenever he sees it, he reads it atleast 10 times. So we only take it out at night. He loves everything that Rajni uncle and Mindy sent.

Sharing Doves of Peace

❀️ Kindness Opportunities today

πŸ•Š Was glad I had one of Mindy’s Ukraine peace doves with me this morning when I found that out someone I was talking with came from there during our chat. She began sharing about life there and opened up to me a bit about herself. Sharing doves opens hearts ♥️

🧢 Just learned a relatively new neighbor gave birth to a baby girl very recently….guess who will be getting one of my crocheted baby blankets soon :)). We gave their toddler a plush teddy bear when they first moved in & they told us he loved it 🐻 Very lovely young couple.

Kindness With The Keys

Kindness with the Keys Lately, I spend more time in India and visit USA when necessary. My return flight reaches Ahmedabad 2.45 A.M. I reach home around 3.30 AM. I live in my younger brother's apartment in Ahmedabad. His sister-in-law (LS) lives just across from my entrance door. She has the keys. I never like to wake up anybody from a sleep. I woke up my son only when my wife was not around. As the apartment belongs to my brother, I wrote to him that I do not like to wake LS too early nor do I like to wait till they get up. He agreed that I should keep the keys. I am grateful to him. I got extra keys made. I have the set of kind keys with me during this trip, so I do not disturb my neighbor LS anymore when I return to Ahmedabad. I am just trying my best ... Read Full Story >>

A Treat for the Mail Carrier

Day 25:
I used to be a mail carrier, so I know what a small act of kindness can mean. Every now and then, someone would leave a cold soda or a goodie for me in the mailbox. I had a few leftover neighbor brownies from yesterday and left this in the mailbox for my carrier.

Benny and Marcus

Day 27: I introduced myself to Benny today. He had a bike with an attachment that carried a lot of items. I asked him if he'd be interested in a burger and fries since his bike was alongside McDonald's. He was sincerely appreciative of the offer, and he accepted it.  "Hamburger or cheeseburger?" "Cheeseburger, please. "What kind of drink can I get for you? "Coffee, please." "Stay here," I told him. "I'll be back." I placed his order and brought it to him, as he sat near his bike, which had a cool, retro feel to it. He talked to me about his bike and how his dad was "Benjamin", but his mom didn't want him to be a "Jr." So, he's always been just "Benny." I offered him a few Reeses cups I had left over from Easter. "I like those," he told me. "So, do I," and it was time to go. Driving across town, walking in the crosswalk ... Read Full Story >>

Lost...and Found...Keys

This morning I set off on a bike ride for a few hours, taking advantage of the beautiful weather and exploring some trails. At the last minute, before turning back, I decided to go on a short trail I haven't ridden before.

While on the way back, I was stopped by 2 elderly women who asked if I had seen any keys along the trail as they must have slipped out of the lady's jacket while out on a walk. I explained that I hadn't been paying attention to the ground so I wouldn't know but I told her that I'd ride back and see if I spot them.

A few km's down the trail I saw the keys on the side of the trail and picked them up. I rode back to the women and gave it to them. They were so happy and thankful :)

The People We MetI

The People We Met I would be remiss if I did not write about the incredible people we met in Thailand. The staff at the hotels we stayed in went out of their way to make us feel welcome. It could be argued that they were just doing their jobs, but this is not how it felt to us. At the iuDia Hotel in Ayutthaya they staff went above and beyond what we would have expected. The dining room was not open in the evening and when we asked where we could get a takeaway meal the front desk clerk walked us to the nearby restaurant. She indicated that the hotel staff would provide us with plates and cutlery once we returned. Not only did they provided what we needed they put our food in servicing bowls and took care of the clean up while we slept. We were grateful and ... Read Full Story >>

I Have Such Wonderful neighbor

I have such wonderful neighbors. Got stung by a 4” scorpion πŸ¦‚ on Saturday night, did the anti-inflammatory & ice bit as suggested by Google, but of course I had a severe reaction to the sting. Think tingling/numbness in mouth tongue, face, hands, arms, feet, calves, thighs and difficulty walking. I got stung mid-left thigh. On Sunday morning a neighbor was heading to the City - 70 miles away where there is a chance of a pharmacy being open, everything is closed here on Sundays, he offered to get me Benadryl, but that would be about 4-5 hours, I accept cuz I don’t have any. About 32 hours later another neighbor is at my door, he has a packet of 8 Benadryl for me, expired 3/23, but that’s fine. I take the amount it says & go to sleep in about 30 minutes. For 4 hours! The effects of the ... Read Full Story >>

Earth Kindness

Earth Kindness #18
Out again at the weekend. This time, a woodland workout which we finished by clearing the path into the woods of grass and moss. Such a satisfying morning's work. Can once again see the tarmac path and hopefully this will be of some use again to those with mobility scooters and prams.
We also managed to fill a bag full of roadside litter, while a few pasers-by gave us a toot on their horns.
Can't wait till the first Saturday in May when we'll be out planting sunflowers along the roadside with the children (and cake!), so watch this space!

Kind Pie

I hired a lovely local man to do some electrical work in the house, what a delight! He was so pleasant, respectful, helpful, extremely hard working! He offered to do a couple of things that had not been quoted for, so when he mentioned that he was going to cook dinner for him and his wife who was not well (it was already 7pm!) I decided to give him the delicious meat pie that we had for our dinner that day. I put it in a bag, added a few kind cards and a thank you note, and put it in one of his work bags. Today I got a message from his wife thanking us for it and saying it was a very tasty pie :-)

Lemon bar

One of the people I gave a scratcher to at school earlier this week, happens to be a pastry chef. Today she made lemon bars (soooo good) for the staff, left a poem, a stack of Kindness cards and asked people to enjoy and spread kindness.
I had to take a bite of mine before I took this pic.
