Stories of Kindness from Around the World

I Recently Discovered A Serene Place

I recently discovered a lovely area to sit and just be. Enjoyed the breeze, sounds and sights. I'm glad I could stop for a few minutes to appreciate life. For those who cannot do so, I snapped this photo. I share in hopes that it helps draw the peace and serenity each of us poses within. NAMASTE...

Poem Of A Kindness That Touches The Heart

Longtime KS friend, patjos, composed this *poem/prayer that has truly touched not only my heart, but many others. Mish was even invited to read aloud recently at a Service Space online event. Grateful for our continued encouragement of each other. Be not dismayed, WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE! *A Prayer for One Who Stands in Kindness for Mish, by Patjos 4.25.25 I see the cruelty, the mockery, the easy lies. I see the gleam of power used to wound, not heal. I see how a nation’s soul can be torn not with swords, but with smirks and slogans. And still, I choose to be kind. Still, I plant gentleness in the soil of each day. Still, I speak to the dignity of others, even when it’s buried beneath anger and fear. I do not mistake softness for weakness. I do not confuse quietness with surrender. I know that kindness is not naivety, but defiance - sacred, stubborn defiance. When the loudest seeks to divide, may I remain whole. When ... Raok For A Stranger :)

Stopped at a gas station this afternoon and saw a man nearby working for a water utility company. I asked him if he'd like something to drink as it's rather toasty outside. He must have thought I was joking at first, but I told him I'd run inside and get him something to drink if he'd like.

A few minutes later I walked back outside and handed him a cold bottle of water and some Skittles. He still seemed shocked by this RAOK but was extremely appreciative and gave me many thanks and blessings :)

🏡 Neighbors Helping Neighbors

❤️🐈 Our neighbor-friends down the block asked me if I’d look in on their cat again while they were away for an over-night trip. They are needing to move and in the process of house searching.

When I went over there was a FedEx box on their porch marked PERISHABLE, so I figured I better open it. It was medicine that needed to be put in their refrigerator. I knew the husband is on alot of meds & gets them mailed to him.

🐈 Bandit the kitty was doing fine. After spending some time with her I cleaned the litter box, gave here fresh water & food and left her happily eating. I’ll go back again this morning to do the same 😊

🦜 The parrot they had been taking care of for another neighbor was back in its own home so I didn’t get to sing to him like I did the last time. I missed seeing him dance around :))

I like how the neighbors on our block help one another ❤️

Really Seeing Someone

Most days I shop at the supermarket that is five minutes from my house but today I decidedto go to the one further away first. That meant I walked into the centre at a different door. There was a man asking for spare change. From the time when I worked at the homeless project I've avoided doing that but even if I wanted to, I don't think I had any change on me. However, rather than rushing on past, I spoke to him and told him I was sorry I couldn't help. He thanked me for speaking to him.

Appreciation

When my daughter was small, lots of people would tell me what I was doing wrong and I can remember wishing/hoping someone would say something positive.

This morning, I was following a mother with a double buggy/pram with a child of about 2 on one side and a baby in the other side. Eventually, I caught her up as she'd stopped to do something with one of the children. I stopped and said to her, 'I really admire you having two children in there. You won't need to use a gym because that's giving you a workout.'

She thanked me and told me that you can convert it to one child which she normally does because the two year old prefers to walk. 'I'm doing it because they're going to my mother's and she can't bear it if he's running around.'

I hope I made her day because she certainly made mine.

🍊 Citrus Sharing

❤️ Kindness Received & Shared….

Yesterday a big box of Florida citrus was delivered to us, a gift a former neighbor who moved to Florida several years ago sends every few months.

🍊 Today I divided up the navel oranges & grapefruits and shared them with a few of our neighbors. I saw our brand new next door neighbors in their yard & and asked them if they'd  like some & they did 😄

It’s always way too much for us & we get to share with a few families on the block, so our receive always ripples out ❤️

Disposing Of Littered Cigarette Butts

City parks and beaches and facilities have a smoking ban in my city.

However, people who smoke cigarettes go to the park bench areas every day to smoke, and litter their cigarette butts nearby.

It’s so annoying and the butts will end up in waterways and are harmful to wildlife.

I have started collecting the butts and putting them in the garbage bin.

Guidance

A few months ago, a beautician was doing a service to my wife. During that time, the beautician was sharing that a 31 year old nephew of hers has studied only up to 10th grade and has been sitting at home, losing confidence every day. The beautician asked my wife for guidance. My wife said she can refer him to Vidya India foundation who help youth through education and skill building to find a job. My wife set it up immediately.

In the mean time, the beautician figured her son is closer to his cousin and asked him to motivate him to attend the classes at Vidya India foundation. Fast forward three months later, he has been regularly going to classes at Vidya India foundation, and they are preparing him to pass the 12th grade. His confidence has lifted and his parents are very happy. Today they sent a beautiful thank you note to my wife.

A Helping Hand

The first thing I did today was find the author of the book 'The Five Side Effects of Kindness' on Facebbok and thank him for writing the book. I shared with him about KindSpring and that I was on day 18 of my personal kindness challenge.

After breakfast, I went to the supermarket. At the till, there was a lady who got there slightly before me and the gentleman she let go in front of her. She began unloading a few items from the trolley and explained to the till operator, she wanted them to go in a specific bag but she would pay for it altogether. When the bag was packed she returned to unloading the rest of the trolley. I stepped forward and offered to unload the trolley on to the conveyor belt while she packed at the other end. I assured her I was happy to do it for her because it can be hard packing a large shop on your own. It transpired she'd also got a chest infection and was waiting for the antibiotics to kick in.

My Personal Kindness Challenge

There have been lots of opportunities for kindness today. I travelled to the town were I lived until February so I could see the podiatrist. We had a good chat and we made another appointment for May. As I was getting ready to leave he told me that if travelling to BA was getting difficult he would be able to work on my feet at my house as he often travels close by.

Whilst there I went into see the lady who runs the MacMillan Centre in the hospital to thank her for her support two years ago. She told me it was good to know I'd settled well in my new home.

On the bus, returning home I had a conversation with a lady who told me about her two operations and that this was her first trip on the bus since them. Her husband wanted to drive her but she preferred to travel by bus. I was pleased she'd come by bus because it was great to chat.

Before I left this morning, I got a notification that a book I wanted was now available and as I was ordering it, I ordered two copies and I will donate one to the Religious Resources Centre.

A Great Day To Donate

I wasn't planning anything for today but the weather has been so good, I decided to take a bag witih a pair of sandals which weren't comfortable but are in excellent condition; a pouch to put tissues in; and a box of Lego to make a truck to one of the local charity shops. It's in support of Age UK which is a charity dear to my heart as they matched me up with a telephone friend. While there I had a look round and found a lovely pink blouse which I bought for myself.

Kindness At The Papayacare center

Kindness at the PapayaCare

Healthwise, I have regained almost normalcy at PapayaCare and I am grateful to the whole staff for their love care and support. My son made an arrangement with a relative for my stay. So, I will be leaving PapayaCare  in a few days.

I have extended my stay at PapayaCare to make some signs, BMs. greeting cards and quote cards for PapayaCare office and staff. I given some of them.

Image just shows some of them. The work is still going on.

I am grateful to PapayaCare for giving me an opportunity to serve.

I am grateful to Sri Sathya Sai Baba for all the opportunities sending my way and His help and guidance to manifest them.
