A Helping Hand

The first thing I did today was find the author of the book 'The Five Side Effects of Kindness' on Facebbok and thank him for writing the book. I shared with him about KindSpring and that I was on day 18 of my personal kindness challenge.

After breakfast, I went to the supermarket. At the till, there was a lady who got there slightly before me and the gentleman she let go in front of her. She began unloading a few items from the trolley and explained to the till operator, she wanted them to go in a specific bag but she would pay for it altogether. When the bag was packed she returned to unloading the rest of the trolley. I stepped forward and offered to unload the trolley on to the conveyor belt while she packed at the other end. I assured her I was happy to do it for her because it can be hard packing a large shop on your own. It transpired she'd also got a chest infection and was waiting for the antibiotics to kick in.

Guidance

A few months ago, a beautician was doing a service to my wife. During that time, the beautician was sharing that a 31 year old nephew of hers has studied only up to 10th grade and has been sitting at home, losing confidence every day. The beautician asked my wife for guidance. My wife said she can refer him to Vidya India foundation who help youth through education and skill building to find a job. My wife set it up immediately.

In the mean time, the beautician figured her son is closer to his cousin and asked him to motivate him to attend the classes at Vidya India foundation. Fast forward three months later, he has been regularly going to classes at Vidya India foundation, and they are preparing him to pass the 12th grade. His confidence has lifted and his parents are very happy. Today they sent a beautiful thank you note to my wife.

A Great Day To Donate

I wasn't planning anything for today but the weather has been so good, I decided to take a bag witih a pair of sandals which weren't comfortable but are in excellent condition; a pouch to put tissues in; and a box of Lego to make a truck to one of the local charity shops. It's in support of Age UK which is a charity dear to my heart as they matched me up with a telephone friend. While there I had a look round and found a lovely pink blouse which I bought for myself.

🏑 Welcoming New Neighbors

New neighbors just moved in next door to us. I went out to say hello and gave them a gift to welcome them here. I told them not to hesitate to ring our bell if they ever need anything. Welcomed them to the block & wished them much happiness in their new home 🏑. They were full of smiles & gracious.

We look forward to getting to know them.

Disposing Of Littered Cigarette Butts

City parks and beaches and facilities have a smoking ban in my city.

However, people who smoke cigarettes go to the park bench areas every day to smoke, and litter their cigarette butts nearby.

It’s so annoying and the butts will end up in waterways and are harmful to wildlife.

I have started collecting the butts and putting them in the garbage bin.

My Personal Kindness Challenge

There have been lots of opportunities for kindness today. I travelled to the town were I lived until February so I could see the podiatrist. We had a good chat and we made another appointment for May. As I was getting ready to leave he told me that if travelling to BA was getting difficult he would be able to work on my feet at my house as he often travels close by.

Whilst there I went into see the lady who runs the MacMillan Centre in the hospital to thank her for her support two years ago. She told me it was good to know I'd settled well in my new home.

On the bus, returning home I had a conversation with a lady who told me about her two operations and that this was her first trip on the bus since them. Her husband wanted to drive her but she preferred to travel by bus. I was pleased she'd come by bus because it was great to chat.

Before I left this morning, I got a notification that a book I wanted was now available and as I was ordering it, I ordered two copies and I will donate one to the Religious Resources Centre.

Volunteer Meeting In The State Park

I get to go to a volunteer meeting in the state park today. So nice to share time with people giving their time for the good of nature. Our park is low impact, so no pets, no bikes, no camping, just a place to marvel at all beautiful things.

Our Kind Neighbor

Almost every Friday one of our neighbor-friends brings us over a full course home-cooked dinner. She likes to cook for others when she cooks her Friday meals for her family & she “adopted” us, lol.

Yesterday she let us know she’d had a very busy week & wouldn't be bringing dinner over because she was exhausted & wasn’t cooking. She actually apologized! That’s just how kind a person she is!! We assured her we understood, no apology needed!
Told her to rest.

We sent her this today:

❀️ “Happy March. Hope you're feeling rested from your busy week. We would love to make you dinner but (as you know) our kitchen isn't kosher......and.....we don't cook! However, we would appreciate it if you took another day of rest and ordered in from your favorite restaurant. We would be happy to pay for the meal. Itv would be a blessing for us to start the new month that way.”

We hope she accepts 🫢🏽

I always try to have some quotes Cards with me while I go for shopping. Yesterday I gave quote cards to the shoppers wherever I shopped.

While in the shop, I do not give quotes directly to other customers. I do take permission from the shopper or give the quote cards to shopper to give to the customers. I gave some quote cards to shopper to give them to couple of customers. Both ladies liked them. I gave bunch of them and offered to send them provided they give me mailing address. πŸ₯š Eggzactly

πŸ₯š Due to the high price of eggs here now, our local store is charging $12 for a dozen eggs! ….Large food suppliers are charging much less because they buy in bulk.

I’m able to buy a dozen extra large eggs from Fresh Direct for $7 a dozen now, which is more than we had been paying in the very recent past.

πŸ₯š When I heard my neighbor say “I guess we will have to be eating less eggs” I offered to order a dozen for them with my upcoming weekly grocery delivery from Fresh Direct.

When the eggs were delivered today I told them we didn’t want them to pay us for them, but to pay it forward πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

I will let them know that I’d be glad to order eggs for them, as needed. They are simply wonderful longtime neighbors & we feel blessed to have them right next door ❀️
