A Few Kind Words
I couldnt face being towed by two dogs along the street so walked them both separately. We saw a man sitting outside KFC who was dirty, and scruffy, i assumed homeless. I had little Stella who is man-shy and we stopped and talked to the man. He spoke gently to Stella, it wasnt much, but I hope the exchange of some kind words and human & dog interactions brightened his day. It brightened mine :-)

Finding joy in giving
Have great fun finding Little Free Libraries around town or when we travel. Have often found many of them have very few selections for children. Items with kids in mind seemed in order. Here's my basket of goodies. It's filled with activity books, colored pencils (with sharpeners), children's books, bookmarks, stickers, and simple jigsaw puzzles They are tied up in a baggie with ribbon and, of course, a dove!

My kindness journey across USA
Kindness makes the world go round. I am now on a plane somewhere above Russia after a wonderful journey to the USA. And during this journey I encountered so much kindness from different people. There is Elandra in New Orleans, who walked with my husband and me in an effort to find a museum that we couldn't find because we got the wrong address. And she remembered our faces from the previous day when we ordered something at the restaurant where she works. The warmth of the people of Louisiana will always stay with me. In Maine, the people at the local laundry helped us find our way around there because we were not quite familiar with the washing machines. And they talked with us and shared a bit of their life. And in New York we experienced the locals as very helpful: When we were on the wrong subway train, they directed us. We never experienced ... Read Full Story >>

Catchy titles shared
"Donate your favorite book to the nearest library with a note inside on why you love it!" was my smile deck challenge today.
The daughter of a friend of mine and her children just started a "Little Free Library" (http://littlefreelibrary.org/) in their neighborhood. There are lots of kids in that neighborhood and so I knew this would be the perfect place to donate some of the books that I read to my children and to my grandchildren that they have now outgrown.
So I donated several books (including The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Velveteen Rabbit, Charlotte's Web, Where the Wild Things Are and others) to this Little Free Library

Thanking An Anonymous Angel For Helping A Loved One In Distress
Thank You, Universe, for sending an anonymous angel to safeguard my beloved father when he was lost in the midst of an episode of panic and confusion. Dear, dear angel, I don't even know your name. You saw my father's distress, you stopped your car on a busy street and convinced him to accept a ride and worked with him until he had calmed enough to describe the place he was trying to get to (another family member's house) and stayed until they answered the door. I can never, ever thank you enough for your kindness. I can only pay it forward. I WILL.

Feeding the homeless with my daughters
I am so appreciating my daughters today and all that we learned while we were growing TOGETHER. I am especially grateful for the activities that revolved around kindness and brought joy to us at the same time. At one time we decided to bake bread for the homeless community on the beach near our home. We took 2 days during each week to bake mini loaves of bread and also took cheese of each person. As this project went on (eventually for more than two years) one of my daughters started having short conversations with each person she gave bread to. Eventually we brought some playing cards and checkers and played with some of the people, too. Soon several of our friends got involved and we began to make full lunches once a week for this community. Years later when I would see one of the previous free lunch recipients, they would come ... Ripple Effects
At the checkout yesterday when we were shopping for the Women's Refuge donation, the checkout operator was very interested in what we were doing and the role of women's refuge. I explained what they do (offer a safe house and support for women and children in domestic abuse situations) and she said that she didn't know about it and said that mothers and sisters had to look out for each other too. I wasn't sure if she needed the support or knew someone who did. I'm going to pop back and give her the contact details for them (I'm going very gently and carefully with this one). I looked at the receipt and saw that she had used her staff discount on all the underwear!! How kind is that!

Kind Neighbor
Today I'm grateful for small gestures of kindness. I was walking my parents' dog, Max, who tends to react anxiously towards loud noises, etc. As we turned the corner, I saw that one of our neighbors was cutting his lawn with a ride-on mower. When he saw us, he stopped, smiled, and waved. He started again when we passed. Such a small gesture but I really appreciated his thoughtfulness.

My Dad And The Kind Things He Does
Over the weekend I was bored and my dad noticed th
at, so he said we can go mini golfing, which was very kind of him. We had fun and after he let me play a few games of pinball which I'm very happy he did. That moment made my Dad's and my day and we were both very happy.
He is always looking for things to do with my sister Kailey and I which is super kind of him. I'm also going to look for kind things to do for my dad and my sister.

Todays Small Good Deed
I stopped in the parking lot of Costco to jot a note. As I was leaving, I noticed a cart next to me with no one near it. In the cart was a small bag from the pharmacy with the receipt stapled to it. I took it from the cart and back to an employee of the store. I hope it gets back to its owner. I would be distressed if I got home without my Rx.

Hugs, Hugs, Hugs!
Hello everybody!
Today I practiced the challenge: "Hug the first 5 people you see!".
It was not so simple, and I executed it at lunch time with a couple first and with three people talking then. At the end of the 5th hugh I saw all those people smiling, and a woman was waiting in queue for her turn!
Awesome! I felt a boost of happiness, that I hope has been spread in those people's friends and colleagues too!
Sorry for the poor english but I'm an italian speaker,
hugs to everyone of you!

I Had To Laugh ...
I had to laugh when I randomly chose my smile deck challenge today. The first card I chose was "Make a bagged lunch for a family member and slip a joke in it". After he retired, my husband took a job as a custodian at the high school. He is also an avid fisherman. Well on our travels earlier this week, I happened upon a "Custodial Supplies" store. They had an insulated cup that said "Custodian by week, fishing legend by weekend". It was a little on the spendy side, but I knew he would get a kick out of it so I bought it for him as a surprise and had already packed it in his lunch box before I read the card. So I decided to choose a second smile card challenge which was "Take 10 minutes to write a song, poem, or note for a loved one". You guessed ... Read Full Story >>

Camping And Gratefulness
So yesterday our teacher T took us to her RV and we got to camp in a tent and we got to have a lot of fun. T and the rest of us had a really good dinner next to the fire. Also our teacher T took us on a fun treasure hunt called "Geocaching" and it was a lot of fun.
I really liked how excited we were when we first found it. Anyways I'm grateful for the things my teachers and everyone else does for me. :-)

What I loved today...
You know what I loved today ...?
Seeing this bin out the front of a supermarket here at our coastal stay collecting food for animals in needs. What I loved most was when purchasing a few tins of dog food myself to add, seeing the bin was already overflowing with donations.
Seeing the kindness of others today who had also donated completely made my day ♥

Gifted Latte, Anyone
A friend was made a vanilla latte by mistake at Starbucks. Rather than throw it away, they let her keep it, but she didn't want it, so she offered it to me.
I already had my drink, plus I don't like the sweet stuff, but I took it anyway and said I'd try to find the drink a home. I offered it to several people in line, but none wanted it.
So, I went outside. A young lady was walking toward the entrance and I asked her what she was going to order. She said a latte. I asked if she'd like a venti vanilla late and she was delighted to take it.
I didn't think much of it at the time, but I am so grateful that she was trusting of me, of the universe, in that one moment. Her accepting of the drink was as much a gift to me as the drink was to her...maybe even more <3

A Sincere and Honest Petrol Station Clerk
On Thursday my car overheated and I went to the petrol station to get help. Instead of selling me the wrong and expensive in store product, the attendant referred me to an auto supply shop where I got the correct product for my car.
I went back to thank him with a bag of treats. Well, I went in today to get petrol and this is what happened - one of the other attendants said he was so pleased he kept looking at everything in the bag, they took a photo and sent it to the gas station owner. The owner emailed it to all the other station owners in the North Island.
One of the owners forwarded it to Head Office and they sent a thank you to the attendant. I told my husband and he said 'its amazing how a small act can be so big' and I agree :-)

Today's Randomly Pick From ...
Today's Randomly Pick from the Smile Deck was "to give a houseplant to a friend". This was a great one for me, because my Friendship Plant (Pilea involucrata) has outgrown its pot and needs to be divided! I found some cute flower pots that I have been saving to re-gift and potted up three plants which my grandson and I will deliver to my neighbors tomorrow.

Popcorn Kindness
I was unable to post yesterday but the smile deck challenge that I completed was: Get in touch with an old friend who you'd like to reconnect with -- I visited a cousin whom I have not seen since my dad passed away 20 years ago. She recently moved close to where my son and his family live. It was great to see her.
Today's challenge was Pay for a stranger's meal anonymously. There was an old fashioned popcorn wagon at the Pumpkin Patch we went to with the Grand Kids. I bought some popcorn for our family and then paid for 5 more bags to be given randomly to other families.

Sunny Sunflowers
My daughter, who lives 2 hours away, posted yesterday that she loves sunflowers and that they make her smile. So early this morning I called to have a bouquet of them to her today as a surprise. The person who took my order asked if this was a special occasion and I had an opportunity to tell her about our Kindness challenge.
My daughter should receive her flowers in just a few minutes. I love thinking of her smiling and surrounded with smiling sunflowers. It is nice to get little clues and hints from others as to what they love, so that we can send love to them in ways that touch them. The question still surfaces...who is happiest, the giver or the receiver? I say it feels wonderful for all of us to be in the kindness flow.

Even Ants Need Kindness
Today I met with a very unique person who spreads food for the ants to eat. Every morning he walks for 5 to 10 km to feed ants.
I am very impressed by him. I think he is a very kind person and want to salute to him for his kind work.
