Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Inspiring Young Man Making A Random Difference

On Sunday I went to Costco and an employee was playing music on a piano and singing and it was so refreshing. It was bringing smiles to people and it was inspiring.

After shopping, I asked for management and saw the young gentleman and I said they needed him to be playing up front that it changes the mood for the better of customers. The young man was humble and kind and thanked me for my words of appreciation.

He's leaving soon to move to another store but having heard him this time was good as he spreads cheer. One person can make a difference. I tried to upload the video to share but it would not accept it.
Make a difference today.

Sharing The Harvest

I took a big basket of tomatoes, bell peppers, corn, pumpkins and a several sacks of blueberries (each sack had enough for two pies) to the free harvest market today.

I also brought several bouquets of dahlias and Shasta Daisies to brighten people's days. I grow most of my produce and flowers to share with others.

🧁 Cupcakes, Cukes And Community 😊

Since we came back early from camping, we were able to do our monthly volunteer work at the thrift shop/foodbank. Glad we did, because we were slammed with families needing groceries and items donated/given. The cupcakes were a hit! There wasn’t a cucumber or spaghetti squash left. Folks were happy to get some home grown produce and we were happy to share. Besides making a difference to those in need, I look forward to seeing my pantry teammates and catching up. Jeannie was just back from Alaska. Cheryl was still hosting her husband’s architect mini-meet. Nina stopped by for a quick chat, a few puzzles and gave us all her new business cards - “Sew What!” Since the recent death of her husband, 80 years of age Nina has been filling every moment she can with living! MisterM found some items that we could use, from a motor driven auger to a backyard water feature. ... Read Full Story >>

Fires In Portland

Portland has been filled with smoke for the past few days from surrounding fires. My friend in Portland, Oscar @myhomelessmeals recently tweeted that he was having a hard time with the smoke.

The city was not offering shelters for the residents forced to live outside. I wrote to him and learned that his supply of masks was not adequate for keeping out the smoke.

He's already struggling so with an autoimmune disease and difficulty walking. So we got him some 3M 95 masks that he can use that also have an air filter in them.

My heart goes out to him. He said today it's a bit better.

Incense Sticks Kindness

Incense sticks kindness

My neighbor introduced me to an incense seller. I have enough incense boxes. Just to give him business as an act of kindness, I bought some from him. After he left, neighbor told me that he walks long way from home to sell incenses, door to door. Next time I will buy more.

Kindness is like incenses. Fragrance of kindness spreads in all directions. It also clears negative energy, help us relax and connects to our sense of spirituality or religion.

Three Good Deeds On Monday

Three good deeds.

I have so many fiction books that I have never read and have had them for more than 5 years. I am going to slowly drop some off to local Free Little Libraries in Vancouver BC. Dropped off 3 books on Monday.

A stranger approached me outside a convenience store, asking me to buy her some chapstick for her. I went in and bought it for her.

I bought a bottle of water and a sandwich for a stranger sitting outside the Safeway grocery store.

Keep On Kinding On! 🌎

Sister has been ill w/CoVid for the past 2 weeks and her apartment really needed a deep clean.

So, while MisterM volunteered at Feeding South Dakota - a monthly food distribution program, I cleaned my sister's apartment.

I don’t work this hard at my own hOMe - since MisterM is such a big help :).

Hopefully, this will be the last time, as I have the contact information of a reliable and recommended cleaning woman.

Feeling those aches and pains this morning, but satisfied that my sister is ok for a while.

And today is Poppy day πŸ• !!!!! Arriving today, they will be here for about a week. I’ll try and pop in when I can, so keep on kinding on!

Compassionate Listening…..

You listen with only one purpose: to help him or her to empty their heart.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh Reconnected with a friend from long ago….she’s been going through a challenging transition, is depressed & fearful, although functioning, lives in a lovely house, has a sweet rescue dog, is aware of & grateful for her blessings. Green Festival

We went to the Green Festival at the Methodist Church today. It's the first one they have organised so they were pleased we dropped in. I came home with lots of great stuff including a new bumbag made from one and a half plastic bottles.

We picked up lots of information and signed up to be kept informed of the next one. It has been organised by a group of people who live in the same area as we do and they have been given a grant to help residents. One man goes out and clears up the rubbish therefore making it a better place.

As we were leaving I spoke to Sue at the entrance and I gave her the packet of peace doves and asked her if she would like to distribute them. She asked me to write down how Mindy had made them and she said that Daniel who is the leader would be so touched to receive something liket this.

Below is a picture of some of the great material I brought back.

Dance Of The Soul !

It was only a fifteen minute bus journey.

I guided a mother and daughter to get down at the right bus stop so they can catch right bus to their destination.

Helped some on the front side of the bus to purchase tick

ets from conductor.

Lastly as I was getting down I asked the driver of the bus to stop a little longer so that an elderly woman can get in.

A fellow passenger, as he was walking along with me, told me this " I was very happy to see you help people and it was very heartwarming."

His words on a Monday morning and what they meant and the effect of that complement on my soul was priceless. I am dancing !

A Rain Drop πŸ’§

A former staff member of a bank called me up. He's been laid permanently. Since he took care of handing funds to father for 12 odd years, I transferred some money to him

Then moved over to my snack shop at the corner and found a young girl Yamini. She has promised to hand out recycled pens to the poor kids on my behalf.

Then went to the appliance shop and saw to it that I handed am incense box to S. All smiled. Cute. Now on my way to hand over an envelope that' is not mine to an insurance company.

Now that I have become slightly better, thanking the opportunities to help others. We don't need to be a Mount Everest. We can be a rain drop 😎

Children's Wishes

When I was at college during a festival some students made a Children's Wishes wall. The wall consists of children's wishes like "I want book", "I want toy" etc.

There were about 25-50 children wishes on the wall. We can select one wish and pay for it.

I selected ALL THE WISHES and paid for the wishes of all the children.

I remember that I was filled with complete satisfaction and joy on that day.

School & Books

School has started here in Belize & the high schools are all fee-based, tuition, books, uniforms are the responsibility of the family. High school is not required & many children leave school at age 16 after completing the equivalent of USA 8th grade. As a former teacher I encourage the continuation and completion of high school. The past 2 years I have sponsored books for a neighbor & she continues to do well. She has chosen to share those books with a young man in the neighborhood which the school has encouraged students to do the past couple years. Yesterday a young man who worked on remodeling my house came to me to ask for a loan to buy books for his 2 kids in high school, I was happy to give him the money & share it was a gift. Their family is struggling with 2 children now in high school ... Read Full Story >>

Chocolate Smiles!

Bought chocolates from a friend's son to support a fundraiser for his school--then distributed the chocolate bars to many colleagues and staff at college...they were so happy to get a sweet treat in the middle of the day...it just made my day to see them smile and light up! Was also able to give a chocolate bar to a homeless man later that evening when buying the "street sheet news" from him.

Stayed late to support a colleague who needed to talk....listened and gave advice when asked.

Sent inspiring video to friends and family

Gave away more garden veggies

Complimented some students who were practicing a dance outside--they were pleased to be noticed :-)

Wrote a card to someone going through a stressful time

Helped a neighbor find a resource they needed

Some things don't change

Our kind next-door neighbor (on occasions she brought us home-made soup, chocolate and some of her party food not long ago) celebrated her birthday recently and although I don't feel well due to my treatment, I brought her some flowers to say happy birthday and thank you for her kindness.

We also left some muffins this week for them on the wall between us to enjoy as a thank-you treat.

It's so wonderful to be reminded of kindness in the world. Our worlds can
change, but sincere kindness stays the same.
