Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Dove Love

Yesterday at work I gave an upset patient a dove after our session. This person was so deeply moved. Told me no one had ever given the gift of origami before. I did have any nice origami paper with me or any pre-made doves, so I made one out of some stationary in my bag -- I had to tear it to the shape. It was a bit frayed and not exact but that is how so many of us are anyhow.
I also left a nice Mindy-dove at a cafe I don't normally go to. The barista loved it -- fished it out and admired it. Called another worker over and then he showed me the peace crane his co-worker had made out of a big checkered napkin! It was fabulous!

Today a person asked for little boric acid and I gave it to him for free. He said, "Thank You".

Today I prayed, "May everyone and everything be happy. This is my wish and the rest is your wish".

Today I sent messages to 3 best friends as today is Best Friends Day.

Thank You to Best Friends on KindSpring 🙂

Today I gave sugar pieces to the ANTS. I enjoyed watching the ANTS eating food. Wow 🙂

Fostered A Hamster

I foster triumphed (hate the term foster failed) and decided to keep Pancake the dwarf hamster. She is older and I figure she shouldn’t have to move again but should be able to live out her days in Hamsterdam. This little gal loves to ride around inside my robe. I have been fostering her for several months now and have grown so fond of this wee beastie.

Resourceful Acts

I went to the hospital today for my wounds to be checked. The nurse moved the dressing and said everything is healing well. However, something has triggered the migraine attacks this week so I am glad something has gone well.

I've made a phone bag for my friend because it gets dirty in her bag when she walks the dog, along with two bookmarks from the dress material left over from making the stole a few weeks ago. I took a photo of the phone bag and posted it below.

Since I Missed My ...

Since I missed my last week of school because of COVID, a few students wanted to see me. Today we were finally able to connect and they surprised me with these flowers, along with some freshly picked 🍒, some vegan banana bread one of them made, and a card with with a message that continues to remind me of what an honor and privilege it is to work with the most caring and special human beings that I've ever known 💚. As most teachers would say, "I love my students 💜!"

Spreading joy

Handed out an incense box to my security guy. I discovered that he has two daughters. K and C. I only knew C. C is a sweet child. Asked him to let both go to the nearby government school.

Had to visit the telecom company to pay money. The young bubbly girl's eyes lit up when she saw me. I crack jokes with her whenever I see her. Once the payment go through, I thrust a small sum to drink sugarcane juice. She refused initially but I told, I am giving with all love. Quench the summer heat. She couldn't refuse. YES 😁

The monsoon season should come anytime. The weather will be officially half-Dutch weather then. Looking forward 😉😉😉

Holding The Door For A Senior

Went to pick up my lunch order today and there was an elderly lady using a walker who was on her way to the door to exit the place.

I went outside to hold the door open for her.

Nice to get a sudden and surprise opportunity to help a stranger.

Received Flowers

There was a knock on the door a few minutes ago and Richard was doing something outside. I looked out the window and there was a florist van. I opened the door and the lady with a flower arrangement asking if I was Helen. She handed it to me and when I opened the card - it was sent by the ladies from Toothbuckle. I took a photo immediately!

For the Love of Elephants

I heard of  a gentleman at the marina goes to a couple of events to raise money for a charity which looks after elephants. We are emptying an old boat for sale and had a big cover that had not been used so I offered it to him.
I asked if he thought he could sell it and donate it to the charity. He said 'oh yes! That is so kind, thank you!' I told him HE was super KIND to do this every year, take the time to collect things, sometimes restore them and go to the event to sell all to support the animals.

If we make an effort we can all help each other, and sometimes it's not even an 'effort' at all, as in my case, it's just caring. He'd mentioned that he finds lots of stuff at the skip...we do live in a world that consumes and rids of things too easily....we can do so much better if if we try...

Peaceful Thoughts

I distributed the Origami peace doves to the participants of a yoga retreat I was in. They were very moved to know that these attractive handmade doves were made with positive thoughts of peace and love and that they were its recipients. At least 2 of them were in tears and held it close and said they could feel it. It was a nice generation of peaceful thoughts in many hearts.
Thank you to the peace dove maker Mindy for sending me the package in a timely manner as usual.

Kindness at Doctor's Office

I visited my family Doctor to show him my latest blood and other reports. Everything is fine. Nothing to worry about.

While waiting, I talked to the lady and her mother seated next to me and told them Positive Thinking story. I gave them booklet on positive thinking. Before leaving home, I was thinking of finding someone to give it and talk about positivity. Positivity found its way. I received smiles and thanks as well.

After they visited doctor, I reminded her mother to think positively and forget about her condition. I received smiles.

I gave some quote cards, birthday quote cards and bookmarks to patients waiting.

Prayed for wellbeing of all the patients.

Helping At Any Opportunity

We saw a lady pulling her long cart that had 3 big bags of mulch on it. We watched her go towards her car from the lawn and garden area at Wal-Mart. I was looking to see if the employer would  come out to help and assist her, but no one came. So, I asked her "Ma'am do you need help with that? My son can help you." She was surprised and pleasantly replied  "oh yes sure thank you!"
I was parked right beside her as we were loading our groceries. She thanked us and wished a good day. My son wasn't expecting anything in return and he felt good knowing that he could  lend a hand to others in need 👍 As we all do here on Kind spring 🤗

Flurry Of Kindness 🙏

I got fed up waiting for my flower man to pick the stuff at home. So, I trotted down the street and visited my flower lady. I gave her due. And she mentioned how her brother gives her sleepless nights. He met with accident apparently and recovering slowly. Her grandson was next to her. 13? 14? I thrust the loose cash in her hands asking her to buy some snacks for the kids. She has promised to come sell the stuff on Saturday, the proceeds of which will only be used towards cleaning the apt. These guys have always been sincere to me. I love her body language. She gets annoyed when I fuss about paying her late. I went out after a long time.
My shopkeeper from the nearby shop has gone absconding again. Handed out a box of incense stick to him and his employee. Sweet girl. Complimented another employee who was wearing gold on her dark brown skin: she looked a star ... I let her know and she was very happy. And she was a true star when she smiled. My grumpy security fellow is back. He opened gate for me. I said thank you to him. A genuine one. He smiled. God bless. Now, off to counting my blessings, which is myriads for the day 😉😉😉

Service And Help To The Foodbank

Before my operation I had to isolate and couldn't do my normal grocery shopping. Of course, I've not been able to do any shopping since the operation.

Before the operation, we placed an online order from our normal supermarket and we've continued at regular intervals. When I was placing the order for today, I put a couple of items in for the foodbank. This morning I received an email that they had to send a replacement for one of the items on the order. We discussed it with the driver and he said we could keep them and he would knock them off because they usually destroyed anything returned. I thanked him and said I would put them in the foodbank!

❤️ Sharing Love

I had a surplus of ‘You Matter’ cards from the You Matter Marathon website group, so I gave them to my neighbor friend who is a teacher. She plans to use them in her school.

This morning she sent me this message from the airport (where she’s on her way to a school conference):

“Sharing at the airport the staff is overworked and smiles when they received You Matter shaing love” 💕

I suggested she share how she’s lighting up people with these cards over at the You Matter website , where people post about how they are using the cards 😊

Boomerang

Kindness is like a boomerang. It always comes back.

Today my man Luke and I went next to help the elderly widows who live next to us with their Tv. They were so grateful. Thanked him and I  constantly for helping. We left. Didn’t think more of it.

Then an hour later a knock at the door. We opened the door and there was beautiful Meg holding a delicious mudcake.

“Sorry I didn’t bake it” she said. “I bought it. To thank you both”.

How sweet is that!

We enjoyed the cake after dinner and I took a photo of my youngest eating cake and sent it to her.

Kindness and love spread. Never forget it 💕

Health and Kindness

I went to get my body checkup and required tests. It is kindness to myself.
I gave many quote cards, bookmarks and Birthday Quote cards to staff and patients in waiting.

Cracked jokes with lab technician and doctor.
Talked about the importance of positivity in our life with one young girl waiting for her turn with her parents and gave her name of the books on positivity to read.

While waiting, one old lady was going out looking at me. She told me that she will have denture. I asked her, is it Okay if I pay for it? She happily nodded yes. I paid her. She paid me back smile and blessed me.

Prayed for wellbeing of the patients. That is what I do daily.

I also donated to the institution that provides tests and consultation at very low price. I am thankful to Sri Sathya Sai Baba for guiding and helping and sending me the opportunities to serve.

Silent Love

Today my kind act was very subtle. Quiet. And one no one would have known.

In a store today there was a couple having the most horrible argument (in all honesty, I'm surprised they were being so verbal outside of home and loud).

They had a young girl with them who they were using as 'pawn' between eachother. Arguing over who is the better parent, who did this to that etc etc.

I had no idea what to do, but I wanted to do something. So I did all I knew to do. I prayed for them.

Sent them love silently from my heart to theirs. Prayed to God that he intervene and send peace over them both and protect this girl in particular.

I don't know what happened after this but my faith is strong and I trust in our God. I hope, just hope, my love and prayer did something 💗
