Kindness Acknowledged

Kindness acknowledged

Both the parcels reached the destination. I am grateful Dr. D and to Pahel Charitable Trust for giving me opportunities to serve.

Rushit Masrani acknowledged as under.

Thank you so much for the wonderful books, inspiring bookmarks, and generous financial support. This is truly one of the best gifts I’ve received — I deeply love books, and the thoughtful quotations on the bookmarks are truly uplifting and motivating.Your kindness has not only encouraged me but also reignited my spirit.

Star #1: Waiting Beneath The Hospital Canopy

🌟 Star #1: Waiting Beneath the Hospital Canopy

Date: Years ago, during work
Place: A hospital where I once worked

There was an elderly couple.
The husband came regularly for dialysis, in a wheelchair pushed by his wife.

Every time their session ended, I would help her push him to the taxi waiting area,
even if I was busy. Even if I was tired.

I just didn’t want to see her struggle alone.

I never asked their names.
I just showed up when I could, and I walked beside them in silence.

One day, the visits stopped.

I knew.

But I will always remember the way she nodded at me, like a silent thank-you across time.

Jock Thomson's Bairns poem

Anyone familiar with the saying "We're a' Jock Tamson's bairns."? Maybe you have a similar saying in your country? I was writing a poem which took a differnet direction and ended up like this: We are all Jock Thomson’s bairns, born under the same soft stars, just trying to keep a light on in the dark. We are all - just all of us, clothed in different wounds, fighting different storms, and likewise different demons. Stranger, neighbour, refugee, rich man, poor man, beggar man, me. Mothers, sisters, all the colours, lovers, haters, still my brothers. One danced at his daughter’s wedding, another grew up husband-dreading. One wept for joy at first son’s birth, while this one feels they have no worth. We are all Jock Thomson’s bairns, born under the same old moon, here for a fleeting moment - then away. We are all - just all of us. Each a reflection, mirroring the other deep inside. Tinker, tailor - come and see: all your lives reflect in me, each a line in an epic story of unsung heroes, ... Welcome

Yesterday I welcomed the most delightful Japanese young girls! They are called Yuri & Nairu and they are both studying at a language school in London. They are so grateful for the opportunity to stay here; they love the garden, their rooms, and are grateful that I can also teach them and help them practise. It's so rewarding to spend time with them, they appreciate every little thing I do for them, not realising that they are a blessing to ME. I'd left some of our KS friends kind cards in their rooms and they were so pleasantly surprised :-)
I very much look forward to spending more time with them these next 3 months. I have lots of ideas of things to do and places to take them, starting with our welcoming and charming local garden centre. They can help me pick flowers for the garden as it is now sunny but it had been looking rather English grey :-)))

Our Kind Roofer

β˜”οΈ Rainy Day Kindness….

☎️ Startled by a very early phone call yesterday morning, we picked up the phone hoping it wasn’t bad news….

It was our longtime roofer, who lives nearby, calling us. He had been driving down our block at dawn & saw a car parked in front of our home with the driver side car door wide open, in the pouring rain β˜”οΈ & no one inside the car. He stopped his car, got out & closed the open car door.

He was calling to let us know & asked if we knew whose car it was. πŸš™

❀️ It was kind of him to stop his car, and get out in pouring rain to do that. Some others driving by who noticed might not have stopped to help that way. We thanked him for doing that & for his kindness.

We did not know whose car it was but did see the owner come to get in the car later & went out to let him know.

Another Simple Act Of Kindness

This morning I had the opportunity for a small act of kindness for a stranger. I got on the bus after a hospital appointment and sat next to a lady near the front of the bus. When we reached Durham, I thought she was getting off but she wasn't. As we left Durham, she asked if we'd reached Durham hospital and I looked at the board and was able to tell her it was the stop after the next one. I rang the bell for her and moved out so she could leave the bus.

When she asked, she explained her eyesight wasn't very good so I said it was no problem to help her. I was at the same hospital yesterday for a mammogram and today I was on the way back from seeing my consultant so I was glad to help her.

A Simple Act Of Kindness At The Crossing

A simple act of kindness this morning. I was walking back from the supermarket and I find it's easier if I use the light controlled crossing which is closest to it. As I approached, I saw a family on the other side. The mother was using crutches and the father was pushing a buggy with a child in it behind. He was moving slowly so he didn't catch the mother's heals. I asked them if they needed the crossing and the mother said yes. I waited until they were almost at the crossing and then pressed the button to change the lights. The lights changed so they could walk straight across. The mother thanked me so much for doing it.

Fighting Litter

There is a public basketball court area nearby.

The people playing often leave their cups and other litter behind.

There is a garbage bin nearby.

I made a sign asking them to put their trash in the garbage and that it is very inconsiderate to litter.

Was this good? Or mean?

She Was Our Mom

She Was Our Mom
She was a sister, a daughter, an aunt, a wife, a mom and grandmother. She was a homemaker. She was a piano teacher. She was a good friend. She was a caregiver to her parents as they aged. She developed hobbies such as sewing, knitting, crocheting and painting. She continued living her life until the day she passed in 2001. She was and still is mom to my siblings and me. As young child I doubt I thought of her in any of those roles other than my mom. Now looking back, I realize what an incredibly woman she was. She gave of herself to so many people especially those she loved. She was strong and brave in her approach to her own health issues. Her faith comforted and was her rock. This weekend I will take time to think of her and give thanks for the time I had with her.
Celebrate her this weekend not just as your mom but the amazing woman that she is. To all the moms out there I would like to wish you a Happy Mother’s Day. Photographer unknown and written by T.C.

Generating Funds And Support For My Friend And His Brothers And Sisters In Arms

My friend, i, serving in Ukraine's Armed Forces, asked for help in generating funds for his brigade to purchase a newer and larger vehicle to more reliably and efficiently transport troops to and from the front line.

I quickly donated and sent out a request across numerous outlets and friend groups asking for help on his behalf. Quite a few responses quickly came in, and have already helped he and his brigade with some of the necessary funds <3

Never Ever Doubt That Small Act

Never ever doubt that what you might consider a small act of kindness holds power….it does!

Once in awhile, I send a short word of appreciation to someone whose very unique blog I follow. I do this esp. when she seems at some kind of crossroad.

Just received this response to something I said , in just one word , to her this morning:

“Thank you so much!!
I appreciate your encouragement so much. It has always been such a boost for me!”

Wow, I thought after seeing how one simple kind word can do that.

The power of our “small” acts of kindness that ain’t small at all πŸ˜‰

Letter Carriers Food Drive

Many local post offices in the USA hold a food drive on the 2nd Saturday in May. Postal customers are invited to fill the bag provided with non-perishables and leave by the mailbox for pick-up.

Community groups, such as the Boy Scouts, help pick-up the donations, sort/weigh and redistribute to food banks.

We’ve filled our bag, plus went the extra by tucking an encouraging note, some $ and a Dove of Action inside a carton of cheese crackers.

Do what you can and if possible focus on that EXTRA, my kind friends! πŸ•ŠοΈ πŸ’ͺ
