Sharing the Gratitude
Another special gratitude jar I made for Bodster, the equine assisted learning place I have been going to who have been so supportive, caring and wonderful by giving me a bit of a break from my mental illnesses and helping me get back into life again. The buttons spell out 'Bodster' with a horse on either side. It is my last time at Bodster tomorrow and it will be a sad time, but I know I can always contact them if I would like to. I am so grateful for their presence in my life.

Kindness Begets Kindness
I was gifted with a wonderful opportunity last night. One of the people in our Facebook neighborhood group posted some pillows for sale that I knew my youngest daughter would love, so I requested to buy them from her. She only wanted $4.00, which I thought was very reasonable for the 4 pillows. We set up the porch pickup for later in the evening. When I got there, I put a $20 in her mailbox and sent her a message that I didn't have change (true, though had I really wanted to I could have gotten it), so to treat herself and her daughter to a little something. Once she discovered what I did, she messaged me back, offering to put the change under her mat for me to pick up. I asked her to just pay the kindness forward sometime, and that would be the only 'change' I need. She promised ... Read Full Story >>

Cookies, anyone?
"How can you stand that display of Girl Scout cookies facing you all day?" I asked the cashier, motioning to the table of temptation a few feet away.
"Oh, that's why I have my back to them!" she laughed, as she rang up our purchases.
"What's your favorite?"
"Mmmm...probably the shortbread cookies," cashier sighed.
With that I gifted the cashier a box of her favorites along with a SMILE card!!!
Got a few extra boxes of cookies as well....I wonder where they will be gifted? :)))

Difficult compassion
I run a support group for women who have the same illness as I do. It is very hard to know how to help sometimes. I check my intentions constantly to make sure I am coming from a place of compassion. It is one of the hardest things I have ever done.

Giving a little one a fighting chance
I rescued a little wood mouse with an injured leg. I called up a few places to get some advice. They told me to put some cotton wool in a little container and some wet bread. I'm hoping he survives the night. I just wanted to give the little one a fighting chance.

More than payment!
Along with payment for our tab, I included an origami Peace dove :).
The waitress picked up the dove, held it to her chest and with tears shining in her eyes said, "Oh, thank you! I need this so much today. My husband just filed for divorce."
Those doves, my friends, they just seem to know where to go!

Going the extra mile, because they deserve it
I deliver Meals on Wheels every Friday. A week ago I had the pleasure of helping one of my clients. She was frantic when she opened her door to me saying that her phone was dead and since she couldn't use her phone her medic necklace was down also. She was so frightened in case something happened, she had no way of getting help. She had asked the mailman to help her and he couldn't-though he did go to her neighbors, but they were not home. When I got there I took matters into my own hands, and called the phone company and made sure that they knew that it was a medical emergency to get this phone fixed. I took her phone number and her name just to make sure I could call later to see if the phone was hooked up. She was so grateful she was in tears hugging me for ... Read Full Story >>

A kind act to soothe the pain
I was in a shop the other day and the lady in front of me asked for something to sooth her sore lips. The assistant said that was easy and got out lots of balms. Then the lady asked if she had anything to sooth the pain of losing her husband. The assistant said she hadn't. I gave the lady a hug and for a few moments that seemed to help her.

Warm Coats for All Beings
At our local post office, you will occasionally
see a homeless young man and his dog and a young lady and her dog and cat sitting quietly on the cold pavement as the people pass by. Today, I noticed she had taken her sweatshirt off and put it on her dog since it was shivering.
I was so moved I went into the store, purchased a coat and gave it to her so she could be warm too.

The kindest things are sometimes the most simple things
I believe the kindest things we can do for others, are often the simplest. These are things which generally cost you nothing but your time and are just so thoughtful. I discovered this once again this morning . I have a wonderful pen pal who is a South African lady. She is currently imprisoned in Thailand, but we are able to stay connected. This lady is one of the most beautiful, kind hearted, and loving women I think I have ever met. Her story is a sad one, but not uncommon. Her reality is the same as many who end up imprisoned in foreign countries. We have been friends now for almost 4 years. I'm very grateful for her, and I know one day we will meet. I also believe in my heart she will be released. She has one daughter who was only 3 when she was imprisoned. I have written to ... Read Full Story >>

Because after all she's part of the team
My 9-year old daughter participates on a cheer leading team. Last weekend they had their pictures taken by a professional photographer and had the option of purchasing group photos and/or individual photos.
One of the girls on the team is unable to afford purchasing photos. So, without her or her family knowing, I purchased an extra team photo that will be just for her. I know she would really enjoy having a keepsake from her time on the cheer leading team. I can't wait to see the look on her face when she sees that she will be getting a team photo on the day when everyone else receives their own photo orders.

A precious moment of life I wanted to share
This morning I was fortunate enough to capture the miracle of life right before my eyes!
As the cool breeze combined with the warmth of the morning sun, I felt blessed to witness such a delicate moment.
Bamboo wind chimes in the background added even more joy. Being present in the moment I soaked it all in. And now I share it with you.

Unexpected sharing with my housemate
Yesterday a housemate asked if I'd join him with dinner, he just felt like cooking and sharing. So I got treated! I was just passing him in the kitchen, on my way to next door to the supermarket, and thought it would be nice to get some Tiramisu as dessert (I almost never do dessert, but hey it felt good!)We had a great conversation too; he knows I am into spiritual things, so it got interesting. He shared he liked Jason Upton and shared this amazing song called Beautiful People.

Small but sweet RAOK for a busy friend
My friend phoned me last night to thank me for helping her with some housework. She said her husband came home and was going to tackle the ironing pile, but saw that there were less clothes to iron, and was very happy to find some of his shirts ironed and put away. Really, it was a small thing to do for a busy friend.

To many blessings to count
Good afternoon/night/morning beautiful friends of KS! I wanted to share the good news about my interview with the senior care Centre I had today...I'm on board!! :):):)I'm so excited to start sharing a few hours with these wise, amazing people! Also, last night I came home to a letter from the death support project, an organization whom I contacted to ask to be placed in the program to be able to correspond with death row inmates. I have been assigned a pen-pal!!! I am beyond excited! They didn't take months to reply, which I thought would happen! I have the day off from work, so I'm going to sit down and write the three letters I have to write today: two inmates and a letter going to the bundle of love from the website I shared with you, moreloveletters.com. I can't even count my blessings every day, I am so incredibly grateful for ... Read Full Story >>

Strawberry sweetness on a cold winter day
We had to run out to buy more food for the feral cats who frequent our "restaurant"..we are in the midst of a cold snap with increasing bitter temperatures & high winds & they need to eat more frequently to stay warm.
The Universe was so kind, we were able to get a break on the cost per bag...a $3 savings per bag! Awesome.
We used some of the savings to buy a basket of strawberries for our 90 year old friend who had shared with me yesterday that she loved strawberries but couldn't see spending $7 a basket (the off-season price we are being charged here now).
Knowing she'd insist on paying us (she's very proud), we dropped them off with her son (she lives w/him) , told him we didn't want any payment & to tell her he paid us for them. Lol. When she called us later to thank us & asked us how much they cost, I told a "white lie" & said $3. She said she was going to give her son the money he laid out....I was chuckling as we said our good-byes ðŸ“

Inspirational Bookmarks for Strangers
I read from one of the wonderful people on this site about an idea she had to make bookmarks and put inspirational kindness quotes on them, and then place them in library books for others to find and be inspired. I loved that idea so much that I went and bought all the materials I needed to copy this wonderful idea and make them myself! I love scrapbooking and I'm excited for this new project; I get to do something I enjoy very much and I get to inspire others. A win-win situation! Thank you very much for this beautiful and wonderful inspirational idea.

Words to set you free
I wrote two more letters/cards to prisoners tonight. Included in the card, as they always are, will be peace doves.
But not only do I always include doves, but there is something else I always do. I write an inspirational quote or uplifting words on the back of the envelope.
Tonight I had the bible near and decided to open randomly to any page. Before I did I said a little prayer and asked if there is a verse for this prisoner that I be led to it. I was blown away. Of everything it says in the bible or could have said I opened to this page and my finger landed on Ezekiel 36:26 which reads.
"And I give you a new heart, with new and right desires, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony heart of sin and give you a new obedient heart".
The last sentence I left out on back of card as I didn't want to emphasise or use the word sin.
I know this quote was divinely chosen especially for the recipient ♡

A Little Work for Big Dividends
I was busy working in my home office when I received a call from my adult daughter. She needed me to assist her in another part of town to retrieve a free dresser she'd found. Without a second thought, I stopped working and went to her aide. When I arrived, she and I hefted the dresser into the back of my vehicle, then went to drop it off to her fiance's condo. My reward? Her face lit up with a huge smile, and she hugged and thanked me profusely. It only cost me 30 minutes of my time, and it made my daughter's day. ;-)

A visit with a lovely lady named Olga
Today I had the pleasure of visiting this lovely lady, Olga. She doesn't speak very much, and our conversations are never deep. But it doesn't matter. What matters is that I'm there, holding her hand listening. She isn't alone. So many elderly are alone and living in convalescent homes. They may have the latest technology; TV's, and all the latest gadgets, much like Olga's brand new establishment. But you know what? None of it means anything to them. All they want is company. All they want it for someone to care and to show them that they matter. People often say what I do is kind and so great. It really isn't. I do nothing special at all. I just turn up, and by doing so it shows I care. It shows she means something to me. And she does. I took this photo today because sometimes I don't know what to do. I ... Read Full Story >>
