🌴 Padre Island Pick-up
Litter bags provided by Padre Island National Park supports beachcombers to pick up trash as we stroll along the ocean’s edge. The bulk of the trash was plastic, with a random beach sandal, candy wrapper and beer bottle.
Truly, a LOT less litter than we have found previously, which is encouraging!
🐢 Park Ranger remembered the origami turtles I made for them years ago, when I gave them some again this visit.
The rangers and volunteers are HUGE in helping Kemp’s Ridley turtles (the most endangered sea turtle species) successfully hatch and release.

Conforting Words
Today I comforted and sweet-talked to my neighbor's dog, a beautiful black Labrador retriever. Every summer when they go on vacation they leave her in care of relatives who come once a day to feed her. But she cries almost every night and part of the day. So a few days ago I bought a few bones at the butcher shop, I cooked them, and when she cries at night, from my window on the second floor I give her some comforting words, and obviously his delicious cooked bone. :-)

Kindness Lives…
❤️ Witnessed a sweet kindness act in our small corner grocery store the other day at the checkout counter…when the cashier rang up a woman’s order the shopper didn’t have enough money to cover the cost & began to take out a few items to return to the shelves …the man in line behind her told the cashier to add the difference to his bill.
When the woman started to cry at his kindness he comforted her by telling her someone once did the same for him & he always wanted to pay it forward ❤️
Kind people everywhere ❤️

Counting Those Blessings.
In one and a half days I fly the "Nest" here and had fun buying and wrapping up a couple of gifts for some lovely people: Choccies for the 2 cleaning ladies. I will especially miss the little blonde lady with the husky voice who is a real sunshine - just like her name - Sonja. And I will miss the man in the wheelchair who has piercings and sometimes feathers as piercings. We had a lovely deep conversation today. He is very kind, genuine and clever. I think I will gift him a painting I made. Hope to catch him tomorrow when he is having a cigarette outside his building. I also made a gift for myself - a lovely homemade bracelet made of glass beads. I realised that there are many other gifts: recognising the light in the darkness, self-care, hope, faith and gratitude. And the chance to get out of my comfort zone and achieve little goals. Things are getting better. 💓

Helpers
I had an opportunity to help someone who had the chain fall off their hand cranked bicycle and I was so happy another couple also stopped to make it easier for all of us. I learned a lot about how a bike like that operates. Glad there are helpers among us.

Coffee, Tea, And A Generous Tip
Got coffees and a tea for my coworkers today. I didn't have any smaller bills to leave as a tip for the baristas, so I left a larger bill. My coworkers and baristas in the coffee shop all work hard and they are all very much appreciated. :)

Mutual Kindness
Mutual Kindness
My friend S and his wife A visited me, yesterday. I am helping them buy apartment and helping them in all other ways, so, they do not have to pay rent. They are trustworthy.
Yesterday morning I gave some groceries to some needy people. Some are still to serve. MS A was inquiring, when I will give groceries to those who didn't show up? As I am busy making Valentine's day cards for Utthan, She gladly accepted my offer to serve them. I gave her money and thanked her for saving my time.
I have helped Friend S, a lot, they are always willing to help me. MS A made dinner for me. I am grateful to her. I gave them some groceries, soaps and cookie packets. and two Punjabi dresses.
I am grateful to Sri Sathya sai Baba for giving me opportunities to serve , helping and guiding me too,

Inspiration From A Kind Act
About three years ago I was playing my harp at a nursing home and one of the workers asked if she could strum it. I said sure. She took a card of mine and I never thought about her again.
Out of the blue, this woman called me last week. Her sister gave her a little harp for Christmas. She had kept my card all these years. She wanted to know if I taught lessons (I don’t ) and I referred her to my harp teacher. I invited her over to see my harps and she came over. We had a lovely visit. She has always wanted to play the harp and our interaction a few years ago inspired her even more.
You never know how a little act of kindness can inspire someone.

❤️ Valentines With Extra Love ❤️
Been helping daughter-in-law create Valentines for Cards for Hospitalized Kids. We’ve both made cards for them in the past, but she has outdone herself with personally making over 250 works of heart this year!
While watching TV in the evening, she'd pull out her supplies and over a few weeks, and with a steady focus of LOVE, has created a boxful of beautiful compassion ready to mail to children in hospitals.
That's a lot of KINDNESS in action! 😊

🧶❤️ Crocheting Makes My Heart Happy…
Have been staying home all week so had lots of time to crochet 🧶
Ready to ship a baby blanket to North Carolina, a hug (prayer shawl) to Colorado & a scarf to California that will be taken to a friend in India
Hope they all enjoy their gifts & feel the love and light crocheted in every stitch ❤️
The gift is in the giving & it was very relaxing and healing for me to crochet.
🧶 “Knitting and Crochet Relieve Depression Depression relief is by far the most reported and studied benefit of crochet and knitting. The repetition of the crafts has been shown to release serotonin, a natural anti-depressant.”

🌲 A Sweet Meet In The Park…
🧶 Years ago I crocheted a baby blanket that I gifted to a woman I had struck up a conversation with in our local park. She had mentioned that her niece was expecting a baby & she was going to a baby shower being held for her niece & wondered what to bring as her gift. I asked her if she’d like a handmade baby blanket.
When I declined payment she was bewildered…said she & her husband couldn’t believe a “stranger” would do that. I told her the only payment I’d like was for her to pay it forward.
Saw her in the park yesterday for the first time in a few years…she remembered.
People don't forget kindness ❤️

🏡 Community First! Village ❤️
“An African proverb tells us it takes a village to raise a child. At Community First! Village they believe people of all ages need that sense of connection to thrive and that "the single greatest cause of homelessness is a profound, catastrophic loss of family." At the village the homeless are provided with shelter and sustenance but more importantly they receive a purpose and a home. Community First! Village is not temporary housing. It is a commonwealth of people ready to welcome each new citizen into their lives.” from https://youtu.be/vgSOD1KX_gA via KarmaTube 🏡 Finally! Realized my intent of visiting Community First! Village, in Austin, TX, which is a development of the Mobile Fishes and Loaves food trucks - that serve those in need. CoVid halted our previous attempts to take the tour, but this year it was a go! Made our reservations, along with a donation, and with Siri as our guide, ... Read Full Story >>

Lend With Care Loans
Every month the repayments come in from all the loans I've made to entrepreneurs through Lend with Care. Today I did something different with them. One of the people asking for a loan was a young woman who wanted the money to buy some stock. She was 50% towards her target so I made the equivalent of three loans to her to help her reach her total. Less than two hours later she was fully funded. It was lovely to help and it didn't cost me anything.

🎂 Celebrate By Giving 😊 .
Learned how to fold $ bills in a variety of origami models as part of our son’s birthday gift.
As I hoped, upon opening the gift bag (which I had colored in memory of his beloved cat), minus the glasses, he said, “Wow! I can give these as tips.”
Wanting to give, so others can give, always pushes me forward to learn 😊.
*Pictured models: dove, Christmas tree, blooming heart, dog, sailboat, butterfly, airplane, ring…the hardest part was gathering enough $1 bills!

The year of the black yin water rabbit is almost upon u

I have made several rounds of these origami rabbits and have been giving them to my patients and friends and they also hop into tip jars.
Did you know that a group of rabbits is called a fluffle?
Happy Year of the Rabbit!

People Love To Be Kind
Today, I got an opportunity to share peace doves and Rajni's quote cards among children and adults. They were very happy to receive it. and replied with thanks.
It was the time of sharing knowledge and kindness. I shared my experience with the Kindspring community and our kindness stories. Also shared what is the peace dove and why we are sharing it with people.
All of them were very inspired and excited to share peace doves with their friends and family. They also promised to be more kind and share kindness.
Thanks to all..

Co-operative Of Kindness
We are rebalancing as we settle into being 1250 miles from our South Dakota cabin, at our son and daughter-in-law’s home. A shopping excursion to their favorite food co-op, not only yielded some delicious healthy foods, but also an opportunity to pay for the few items of the customer behind us in line. “Oh, you don’t have to do that!” I assured her that as a random act of kindness, I’d like to treat her. She finally agreed, saying, “I do stuff like that all the time, but this is the first time someone has done it for me…” I gave her a Smile card as well as a Peace Dove, and did the same for the cashier too. In the parking lot the customer reached out to us with more sincere appreciation and a card explaining her mission of higher nutrition. Plus, she returned our cart for us 😊. Wherever we journey or land, we a co-operative of ... Read Full Story >>

Thinking Of Others
I've mentioned before that if I'm ordering something and by ordering over a threshold, I order something extra to pass the threshold and donate it to the Foodbank. I did that a month before Christmas and one of the items included was a box of oatbars individually wrapped, so I donated some of them and I put one in my daughter's gifts for Christmas or birthday (they are close together). The other day she told me how much she'd enjoyed it, so I ordered some more for her and the Foodbank!

Trash day bonus
I try to pick up the random trash. On Tuesdays when it isn't dark in the morning before work, I take a plastic bag on my walk with Kazi and we pick up trash on our way back. Tuesday is trash day, so I toss it in the curbside bin at the end of my driveway. A great way to start the morning!

🚗 Car Karma 🚙 ...
🚗 Car Karma 🚙
Our son and his wife gave their other car to a friend who was struggling with being independent - and who they also helped rise from homelessness, gender reassignment and mental health issues,
So, we gave them our spare vehicle!
That’s why we drove 1250 miles instead of flying, to complete that car karma and of course to see them, our grand-puppy and to soak up some warmer weather ☀️.
Thank you for the safe journey wishes. We arrived safely and are enjoying that puppy time 🐕 💕.
