πŸš— Car Karma πŸš™

Our son and his wife gave their other car to a friend who was struggling with being independent - and who they also helped rise from homelessness, gender reassignment and mental health issues,

So, we gave them our spare vehicle!

That’s why we drove 1250 miles instead of flying, to complete that car karma and of course to see them, our grand-puppy and to soak up some warmer weather β˜€οΈ.

Thank you for the safe journey wishes. We arrived safely and are enjoying that puppy time πŸ• πŸ’•.

Givers thank the Receivers

People thank the giver for their gifts, services or whatever else. This is natural. However, I also thank each individual who receives quote cards and sister Mindy's peace doves, because they give me an opportunity to serve them. My aim is to give away quote cards and they accept them. Some people do not accept them, and I usually thank them too for saving quote cards for someone else who will be happy to receive and get benefited. I thank everyone who smiles at me. I say "Thanks for your beautiful smile" I get one more smile free. I sometimes ask them " Where do you buy smiles?" Do I need to mention I get another smile? Today, an engineer from Croma came to install and demonstrate the new washing machine I purchased. I gave him some quote cards, a booklet on positive thinking and told him positive thinking story thanking him. My day ... Read Full Story >>

Be Kind To Those That Showed Up

Γ°ΕΈβ€’Ε  When we arrived, I offered a basket of Color Yourself Calm Peace Doves and a bag of homemade salted caramels to the staff. 😊 I noticed that the positive quotes page-a-day calendar, a holiday gift from us, was displayed near the front check-in, where everyone could see and read them. The clerk assured me they would save the pages, so I could re-purpose them. I think these wise words are worth writing on post-it’s ... Read Full Story >>

A Bounty Of Food

During winter, I order produce from one of the vendors at the summer farmer's market. These are items that are kept in cold storage such as apples, carrots, potatoes. They do home deliveries two days per week. When I order, I do order quite a bit so that it will last for more than several weeks. A week ago, I placed an order and received it on their last delivery day of the week. Much to my amazement, there was a delivery to my home several days later.. I hadn't ordered. My spouse answered the door, accepted the order, not realizing that I did not order again. After several emails back and forth, it turned out that their computer had generated a duplicate order. They couldn't figure it out. They said that I could keep the order without charge and hoped that I could use all of the produce. It was a massive amount of produce. I thanked them, said that I could use it and that I would share what I couldn't use. I was able to share with four friends and family members and still had some for myself.

Sending Letters Of Support.

The other day, Richard rang a couple who used to live in the same town as us but they moved away about four years ago. He rang to them to catch up but Daryl immediately told him about his wife's diagnosis with cancer. When he finished, I asked if Richard had their address and suggested he write to them and express our support.

Last night I was getting a card ready for him to send and I had a look and discovered there were four other people who also needed letters. I left Richard to do Daryl and Liz and I did the other three. They are all ready to be collected tomorrow. I'm so glad we've done it!

Today...

So, I have been indulging in a spot of therapy over the last 2 weeks in an effort to try to get over a life bump, so that I can feel good within myself and find more strength for my steps ahead. The first day here I just could not stop crying at the breakfast table and another woman was very kind to me. Most people - even the younger ones tend to be there for each other when needed which is highly admirable.  Today one of the older women had a bit of a breakdown during lunch and rushed out of the room with her plate in hand. I asked her if she was OK as she went past me but she could not answer. So, I signalled to a young girl to go after her to check and see if she was OK. Glad she did and I really hope it ... Kind Biscuits

I was walking after the Covenant Service on the wide main road. I noticed the watchman in uniform  outside a high rise  apartment. He was on a chair on the footpath. You have to know Indian cities to understand the pathetic   conditions of such watchmen.
I asked him whether I can offer him some biscuits. He accepted happily and gratefully. I was hesitant to ask him because he was a watchman not a beggar. He was happy to be noticed and given.
Have a blessed week !

A Little Sunshine In The Life Of Shoe-Shine Man

While I was walking on the streets, a shoe-shine man asked me to get my shoes shined. My shoes were almost shiney. Rather than giving donation, I gave him an opportunity to earn money. I gave him more than double the shoe shining price.

I told him couple of inspiring positive stories while he was working on my shoes.

I saw, very little shoe polish was left with him. He told me that with shoe shining kit as shown in the image, he can earn more money. I gave him enough money to buy it.

I am grateful to Sri Sathya Sai Baba for sending me at the right place at the right time, to serve.

If You Can`t Find It In Your Backyard, You Won`t Find It Anywhere.

I`ve been living in Japan for a few years and am proud to say that I have a talent in finding the cool hidden local spots. As a foreigner living in Japan, I couldn`t care less about doing the touristy things or eating fancy food. What`s most important is experiencing the real country and culture. So I always try to find something that`s interesting and fun yet represents the local culture, and that offers an interaction with the locals. My reputation for doing this has grown and I`m being asked more and more often to give people tours, both to friends and strangers. Since I am somewhat fluent in Japanese, I could charge people for this and become somewhat of an official tour guide. I choose not to though, because to me, the most important thing is making sure that the tourist, who already spent a lot of time and money ... Read Full Story >>

Happy New Year!

We continued our family holiday tradition--baking, cooking and distributing everything to friends, neighbors and those in need. Christmas eve and new year's eve both fell on saturdays so got to have my boys helping me at the soup kitchen too--what a blessing!
We`ve also been able to give lots of treats to lots of folks. One person I don't know that well has been caregiving for a relative in the hospital so we have been bringing food for her each week. Each day we visited elderly friends, and checked in with those who are far away. We relished all the connections we have made over the years and talked to old friends.
Also, in our area it has been flooding so we are going to help fill sandbags for the next bout of storm coming this week. So thankful for nature---dug and planted potatoes, greens, and beans....right before the rains came.
I also wrote a card of gratitude to a relative and dropped a note to a nice lady in the neighborhood.
Wishing all of you a very happy, healthy and peaceful New Year! Sending lots of love to all. Gratitude for all of you and the kindness you spread in the world!

A Christmas Story

I have a nice Christmas story to share. I've been making Christmas cards the past week or so for friends and hand out to random people. Christine Eve I gave several to the employees at the casino down the street from me. Then I gave a few to cashiers at QT and a little girl in line. I did the same today(Christmas). I made about 20 more. I went to the casino, got a free soda and filled them out. I handed them out to other employees. I went back to QT. I tried to buy a $1 scratch ticket with my last dollar, they were out. I still handed out cards. I went to Circle K to get a scratcher. I got the ticket. (Sadly not a winner) I gave the cashiers and customers cards. I had 8 cards left. I decided to go to Walgreens. A homeless man ... Read Full Story >>

Saving two gerbils

I have been fostering two gerbils since Thanksgiving and telling anyone who would listen that I am a hamster gal and these two would be going to a forever home anytime. As the weeks rolled on and the hamsters snooze the days away, I have found myself enraptured with the gerbil girls. They pop up and down out of their fluff like prairie dogs, creating the most incredible engineering feat with their tunnels and toys, and they are finally settling into a bit of a routine. I began to hope that the rescue, in its hurly-burly of saving so many little lives, forgot about these two. I began to dread a call that an adopter had come forth. Three days ago I got a message asking if I could write up a story to promote them for adoption and send pictures. I gulped and wrote this story. And then began to cry. I added ... Read Full Story >>

🎢 We Get By With A Little Help From Our Friends

Someone 15 years younger than me, who I hold in high esteem & so admire, surprised me the other day by telling me they want me to be their Mentor. I felt honored. She told me that she mentors someone younger than her & shares things I pass on to her. It led me to Google about what it means to be a mentor (see below). And made me think how we are all mentoring one another every time we listen, share & support each other…..assisting in the growth & ability of another. Lots of mentoring goes on here in our KindSpring community, don’t you agree 😊 Found online: 🌻“Female mentorship is the mentoring of women by women ……A female mentor is sometimes called a femtor.” πŸ’•“Friendship offers a level of intimacy/affection as a means of support, whereas a mentor may demonstrate empathy in more pragmatic ways, such as by sharing a favorite skill-building ...
