My First Mission As A Kindness Apprentice
I am a 22 year old guy who has a deep wish to serve the creation of super consciousness. I grew up with the same thoughts of kindness, my parents also inculcated it in me by not only saying but also showing how its done. Before this Christmas, the cold was severe, it always pained me to see the poor and homeless on streets suffering in the cold--people with no socks, no proper clothing - sitting on streets in the bone chilling cold. I brought 10 pullovers and some biscuits and put all of them in a bag and left in search for more of such needy souls. I wandered for miles..then I saw the first one. He was an old man sitting on a street with a dog in his lap. I didn't say a word and stood beside him, he looked at me and asked if I had something to eat. Well ... Read Full Story >>

Warming Our Souls.
Today my students and I were surprised when local postal worker, Erica, came to our class with hot chocolate and homemade cookies. Erica had learned about my class' Sacks of Hope project and decided to do a Random Act of Kindness for the kids for all they had done so far.
In the midst of a science quiz, our angel arrived with goodies. The chocolate warmed their bodies on this cold morning, but the gesture warmed our souls.

A Mother's Unforgettable Act Of Kindness, Years Later He Son Still Remembers
When I was very young, we used to live in Florida, a place I will never forget. These were the happiest days of my life, and I loved riding down one of Florida´s highways and to feel the wind whistle through my hair. One day, we went down a highway, but strangely nobody else appeared to be there. Well, maybe not any humans, but an animal was there. It was laying in the center of the road, blood red, and seemed to be dead: hit by a car. Quickly my mother pulled into the parking space (this highway had those) while I stayed in our car. ¨My dear god,¨ I heard her say. ¨It´s a turtle, and it´s still alive!¨ We had an empty bin in the back, and some water and blankets from the supermarket, so my mother filled it with water, picked the Turtle up, and put it in ... Wife Witnesses Unjust Behavior Toward House Keeper and Becomes Her Advocate
We have a cleaning lady and for some reason my husband has become very demanding toward her. He believes she does not work as well as she used to. He complains a lot and had decided to complain to her. Yesterday I tried several times to discuss with him that I am satisfied with her work, but he was a little bit upset. This morning I looked at the house, all the cleaning she had done, and thought it was unfair to complain because she was doing such a great job. So I fought for her again, saying it was important for me not to complain, she was doing a great job and that she deserved to get paid more and to receive some extra money for the new year. And finally my husband told her that we have decided to pay her more and that we had a little gift ... Read Full Story >>

Be Kind Anyways
This evening I gave money to a homeless man who came up to me and asked for help.
Yes, it's entirely possible that he will use the money for something that could be less than favorable. However, we should look upon others in such situations with compassion. Perhaps if it were you and I on the street corner sleeping on a park bench, we would understand why someone may be so quick to buy a drink.
Regardless, if someone asks us for help and doesn't truly need it, then that individual will have to work out the karma following such an action and will ultimately learn from it. We ourselves will suffer no ill, for our intention was a noble one, we intended to help another.

This Book Is For You
Recently I participated in my first ever book club type thing. It was in an online forum/group I am a part of, where a book was suggested. So we all agreed to purchase and read. However not everyone could. Either they weren't able to purchase the book, or could not afford. I knew what I had to and would do.
As soon as I finished my book I offered it to another young woman. She lives in the Netherlands and I offered to post. However. The more I looked at this book, the more I knew it had to be kept with me. It was so touching and a book that I needed also (for re-reading and reference).
So I bought her a brand new one and am having it shipped to her. She thinks she is getting my used dog eared copy, when in fact hers will be brand spanking new, just for her ♥

Righting A Wrong With The Missing Post-It Notes
I recently posted a story about my coworker whose bright coloured Post It Notes had been taken by someone from her desk. She had bought them with her own money, and she was not happy to return from a day away from the office to find that the Post Its had disappeared. Someone had taken them. When I learned about what happened, I told her that I had some similar Post It Notes at home that I would bring in and give them to her, as I wasn't using them. When the items had gone missing from her desk, she had sent an email to all our staff to advise that someone had taken her items and that if they were found, they should be returned to her. Today, she told me that the missing items had magically reappeared on her desk, no note from the person who had taken them. She ... Read Full Story >>

Books And A Letter
A few years
back, my cousin gave me a book - Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. I had given it to a friend, who soon after had left the city and took my cousin's book with her.
Today, probably about 5 years later, I have bought a brand new book of the same title and author, wrapped it alongside a hand-written and hand-drawn card and three other books, and will give it to my cousin tonight (it's her father's birthday.)
In the letter I included light and love and safety, which I always think should be in every card, and wished that the books treat her as well as they've treated me when I used to read them. I put my two of my favorite books in there and a comic of one of the books we traded one year that we both gushed about.
Hopefully she will accept my apology tonight!

Little Life, But Big Symbol
Yesterday, at the Women's March in the rain, I noticed while listening to speakers that another earthworm had unbelievably survived the thousands of feet that had turned the field into churning mud. I stood over it for an hour, listening to inspirational speeches and protecting it from crowd surges and the ambulance men who came to rescue an elderly lady who had slipped in the mud and fallen badly. When it was time to begin the actual march, I picked up my tiny protegee and took it to a nearby planted area and put it down near a tree trunk. Bye, little friend!

Nicholas, His New Car And A Gift Of A Guardian Angel
This is a photo of a similar car I own. I just It's a photo of a Skoda Fabia. I drive one too, just recently new. Mine has a black roof though other than that they are the same model and same colour. Well, there's more to this though than what I've just told you. A young guy got out of this car as I was approaching mine. I laughed and said 'Snap' and was prepared to leave it at that. The young guy continued to engage in conversation with me. He asked me how I found the car in terms of driving. I was enthused about it. Turns out this was his first day driving the car ... and.... it was brand new ....and .... it was a gift from his parents .... and .. he'd just passed his driving test today! !!!! Well, this was a special moment for Nicholas. I knew that ... Read Full Story >>

Ordinary Kindnesses
It has been a busy time full of small kindnesses and many moments of ordinary joy. As I know we share what we do to inspire each other and create momentum for more random and planned acts of kindness, I am sorry for not writing in more often lately with my own little tales. Have just been caught up in life! Off the top of my head, some memories lately of "little things": *Went to the library and inserted SMILE cards with a 50 pence piece taped to it and a YOU MATTER card into a selection of juvenile books. It was a school day and no one was around so I took my chance. *Put the YOU MATTER cards in popular adult books and well-used magazines. Also added a few of the SMILE cards with the 50 pence piece. Often the people who come to read the magazines and newspapers in the ... Read Full Story >>

Acts Of Kindness Inspired By Women's March
Tomorrow is presidential Inauguration day in the United States. I wish that I could say that I feel better than I did the day after the November election, but I don't. Some friends are taking part in the Women's (and some men) March in Chicago to coordinate with the March on Saturday in Washington, D.C. They are not marching as a protest but rather in solidarity with values that we hold dear. I had other commitments on Saturday, but what could I do as a positive action?
I came up with a plan. I purchased five $5 gift cards from a food store chain, tucked it into an envelope with a peace dove (the best of my hand-made bunch), prayer card tucked into wing, and a Smile Card. They will be placed on unsuspecting car windshields as I go about my chores on Friday and Saturday. (hopefully, the rain that is hitting my windows now will be over by tomorrow).

A Homeless Woman's Kindness Touches Her To A Point Of Tears
She was sitting outside an ice-cream shop, dirty clothes, rough hair, disturbed and gloomy. She got up and walked, it seemed quite difficult, her legs were shivering and her eyes showed deep grief of being left alone and homeless. I didn't want an ice cream, so I was outside the shop, observing her, while my family went in. She needed to use the bathroom and had no place to do so. Her legs were weak. She was on the road on her own. I saw her difficulties and went by, with Rs. 100 in my hand and handed it over to her. She was so thankful and started blessing me instantly. I wanted to converse with her as that seemed very important as well. I asked her about her family. There was no one she said, all died one by one, with tears in her eyes. 'Where does she live?' and the response given ... Read Full Story >>

Inspiring Kindness To Continue On
My cousin goes to Ikea frequently so a few weeks ago I gave her some money
and, because they are cheap and decent quality, I asked her to get some backpacks for me as we give them to the homeless. Yesterday she brought me a whole stack of them and they even bought some extra ones with their own money
Ripples, we're all creating ripples of kindness :)

Gratitude For The Extraordinary In Ordinary
Sometimes we take life for granted our loved ones, our home. This winter break was a real lesson to our family to revel in the "ordinariness" of our life. Our son came home for his first winter break from college, and the focus of every day was spending time together with friends and family! That's it.
No big plans or trips, but just enjoying the everyday walks, talks, making music together with friends, playing with the little kids, spending time with the elderly, sleepovers, games, cooking together, watching movies together, taking food to other people's houses and doing the same, reading, and just being together in the same space---something we don't take for granted anymore!

She Saw This Little Girl In The Ladies Room With No One To Help Her, So She Stepped In
I went to the cinema this afternoon to see La La Land. Before going into the screening my sister and I visited the Ladies' cloakroom. As we entered a little blonde haired girl about 5 years of age opened one of the cubicle doors, sparkly hot pants in hand and looking distressed and overwhelmed, she ran out of the Cloakroom. I went after her. Her dad was standing outside. She quickly gave him the hot pants to dress her. Little sweetheart. Not only was she probably overwhelmed at having to go into the Ladies alone but there were about 12 cubicles. On top of that, she obviously couldn't manage to button up her sparkly front ribbed hot pants hence the fast exit. Even though she had her little white tights on, she must have felt embarrassed about the lack of hot pants. I tried to calm and reassure her saying when I ... Read Full Story >>

Missing Son's Best Friend Reaches Out With Act Of Kindness That Restores Hope
Of course there is no news yet of Ben. Something happened on Christmas, though, that touched my heart so much that I found new hope. Ben's best friend Michael sent me a text wishing me a Merry Christmas. Since Ben disappeared, I have kept a mailing list of all his friends and send out updates as I get them. All Ben's friends are really great people and I have come to appreciate them over these months since he has been missing. I spoke to Michael on the phone not long after Ben disappeared. He said he would be happy to speak to the media if I decided to do that. (Mary Lyall of Hope4themissing.org suggested involving the media. Mary's daughter Suzanne disappeared also on March 2, but 18 years ago.) Since Michael lives hours away, this offer to drive up to speak to the press if we choose to do so was ... Read Full Story >>

80 Pints And Counting
Sharing the Gift of Life is Love â¤ï¸
Today I reached a blessed milestone. I am now a 10 Gallon Blood Donor. For the friends who fight the good fight, traffic accident causalities, children with bleeding disorders, former students with major surgeries that required transfusion, I'm here for your continued health.
It feels amazing to share this gift of life, especially now when the need is very great due to significant snow storms depleting the supplies here in the United States. It fills my humble heart to save up to 3 individual lives through today's donation. Let it Flow â¤ï¸.

Clothed In Love
Yesterday my sister Berni came to see me after she finished work. She brought me some new clothes for my return to work. There were 2 new pair of shoes, 3 tops and a dress. They were all beautiful. She knows I am returning to work in about 10 days and she said "I got these because I didn't think you'd have had a chance to shop and get some things yourself.' Truth is, I don't have the money to get new clothes to return to work and I've no doubt she knows this. So, I've been clothed in love by my very beautiful, considerate, generous and loving sister. I laughed and told her she's keeps me nice. She is a good person as is her husband Philip, I couldn't begin to list their kindnesses to me. Just when I think they can do no more, they surpass all expectations. I will be putting ... Read Full Story >>

My Most Peculiar Christmas Story Ever!!
Just before Christmas emergency services were searching the forest and mountains in our area for someone who had placed an emergency call after getting into difficulties. They called round to my house as the caller had spoken English and the local teams would potentially need help with translation. Some hours later a young woman staggered past my window. Running out, it didn't take long to work out that it was she that they were searching for. I recognized her, having given her directions and some food about 3 weeks previously. I took her in and made tea and porridge whilst informing the police that she was safe. It turned out that after she left here, she had been turned away by the people she was hoping to stay with and was on her way back here (myself being the only person in the country that she 'knew' following our last meeting!) when ...
